I have a drag bag for it, but sometimes I like to have it in a hard case; especially if I’ll be bumping it around a lot or traveling.
Now…the thing is, I’ve got a Surefire Millenium that significantly increases the width of the weapon (almost twice the original). I don’t want to have to unmount the light and other accessories to put it away, either. I’ll also have an EOTech 516/ 3x FTS combo on top, so it has to accomodate the height, too.
It doesn’t particularly have to lock, but that wouldn’t hurt. As long as it latches.
Any options or opinions? Will I most likely be forced into a Storm case or the like? I don’t want something that’s HUGE, but I want it big enough. Oh…and my AR is a 16" with a shorty stock. (weird, I know…heh)
I actually think that cutting out all the foam like that is a bit cheesy. I just had the case sitting around and some free time so I hacked away at it with an electric carving knife. You could just remove the center layer of foam, the one I cut, and I bet it would fit even with the light. You might have to make a small cut into the top or bottom layers of foam but that would be it.
