In CA, CT, MA, can you have ‘‘evil’’ features on them?
AFAIK, there is no barrel length requirement for an AR Pistol.
As to “evil” features, I would think a 10 round limit for the magazine. Not sure of anything else. One of the pleasures of living in a moderately free state.
Not an expert, but i’m pretty sure it has to have a “bullet button” and a one round magazine. Kind of makes it pointless to build one in California.
As long as there’s no stock or foregrip it’s a pistol…barrel length is not in the equation.
For CA it will need to be imported complete and not as a stripped lower. It must have a Bullet Button and a 1rd sled locked into place. Single shot pistols are exempt form CA’s Handgun list. Once it’s in your possession, you can swap out the sled for a 10rnd magazine.
Barrel length doesn’t matter. The only ‘evil’ feature you can have is a flash hider as the others don’t apply to a pistol.

… due to the unsafe handgun law [PC 12125(a)], an AR pistol will needed to be configured as a single-shot pistol (magazine lock & 0 round magazine/bobsled) with a barrel length of 6" or greater and an overall length of 10.5" or greater [PC 12133(b)].
… in order for it to be still considered a handgun, it will need a barrel length of less than 16". [PC 12001(a)(1)]
… due to the assault weapons laws, an AR pistol will need to have a magazine lock and the use of 10 rounds or less magazine [PC 12276.1(a)(4)&(5)].

(a) Commencing January 1, 2001, any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state for sale, keeps for sale, offers or exposes for sale, gives, or lends any unsafe handgun shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year.

(a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, “assault weapon” shall also mean any of the following:
(4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
(B) A second handgrip.
(C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
(D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
(5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

does the pistol type barrel have same gas port location with the carbine type barre? having the same 11.5 barrel length?
