Does any one have info on storing an M4 for a long period of time. I did a search on this and only got non relevant results or search engine crashes.
I have the manufacturer’s original bag that the rifle came in, but am wondering if there is a better way to store it. I do not know if Brownell’s storage bags are better or not. I would think that it would be smart to spray the weapon down with CLP before storage, but short of cosmoline I do not know what else to do.
Any ideas?
When posted to Germany for a 3-year tour, I cleaned and then lubricated my meager collection with Eezox. Throughout 3 wet Georgia winters and 3 equally humid Georgia summers they stayed in an outdoor shed with only protection from the rain. No VPI bags, no stock socks, just stuck in a metal cabinet.
When I came back there wasn’t a bit of rust to be found :). That includes everything from phosphated to blued to a few ‘project guns’ I was in the middle of that had bare steel showing in several places.
