Long railed Monolithic uppers?

I am starting on my next project which is my 9mm Carbine.

I plan on removing the FSB and having a long rail. However I got to thinking that instead of just a rail I cold do a Monolithis style upper. Does anyone make a Mid-length of Rifle length Monolithic style upper? I know LMT does but I have never been able to find it stripped.

Alternatively, if I need to get a rail I was planning on going Daniel defense. I would like to keep the weight down so I looked at the specs and noticed the Omega rail is actually lighter than the Lite rail. While this seemed backwards I am ok with it. What are the differences between these two rail systems…

And finally, to those with more experience, what length would you recommend?

How about VLTOR? http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Vltor-VIS-Extended-MID-Length-p/vltor%20vis%20-%202a-%202ak%20mid%20length.htm

Also, the Omega rail is direct drop in replacement for the handguards, the Lite rail requires removal of the FSB and delta ring assembly.

I believe the reason the Omega is lighter is because they are weighing just the rail and not including the weight of the barrel nut and delta ring.

With the Lite series, they are including the weight of the steel barrel nut.

Yep that is what I was looking for. Just a couple hundred bucks higher than I wanted to spend and of course out of stock LOL. Guess I will just go the DD rail route.

So lite rail or Omega? What is the real difference?

The omega rail is a direct replacement for your handguards: Just remove the plastic handguards and pop the Omega rail in place. The lite rail you actually have to remove the FSB and delta ring and then bolt it in place, so you’ll need a mallet, punch, vise, and barrel nut wrench to install. Or just get a gunsmith to do it.

argh…nevermind
