I’ve have a vz.58 pistol that I’m going to SBR. It came with an adapter installed at the rear of the receiver with an AR15 type buffer tube attached to it. I used a multitool to turn the castle nut off, but the whole tube rotated off instead. Now I have a castle nut that’s loctited on to the buffer tube. If that’s not bad enough, there’s a bolt holding the adapter to the rear of the receiver that’s also loctited in place. I tried turning it, but it won’t budge. If I try harder I’m afraid that I might break something. All this to ask, is there some sort of liquid that can penetrate and cause the Loctite to let loose?
Hit it with a torch and remove as normal.
Sometimes even s soldering iron held to the fastener is enough to break the locktite.
Hold it on and heat it up try to turn it.
I prefer a heat gun for such things…more hot air, less fire.
Try Bob Smith’s Un-Cure. Loctite is a kind of cyanoacrylate and Un-Cure will soften cured CA. Let it soak overnight for best results.
Hat tip to IG; I use this stuff to remove gas blocks set screws secured with red Loctite. Haven’t had to torch a block so far.
