I got a LNL AP last week and am still working out the kinks. I was having problems with the shell plate not advancing all the way every couple of turns at first, and remedied that by adjusting the palls at the lever pivot thingy. Now the primers aren’t seating right. Sometimes they go in a little crooked, more times than that, they don’t go in at all. The brass has been cleaned, but I haven’t been cleaning primer pockets. Is it a technique thing? or a mechanical adjustment?
Make sure you have the right size shuttle installed for the size of primers. If you have the large primer shuttle installed and are trying to feed small primers, they will get all misaligned. If this isn’t the case then you may have a brass issue.
What kind of brass are you using? The reason I ask is that if the primers are going in sideways, or not going in…I am wondering if you are using Mil. brass, which is crimped and the crimp has to be removed. Primer crimps can be “cut” out or “swaged”, most prefer swaging.
What is the headstamp of your brass?
Also, call Hornady tech support. They’ll fix you up.
mostly S&B 08 & 09 and some RG 09 also. most would just not go in. Pocket too small?
UPDATE
Just googled an answer.
S&B= really tight primer
Radway Green= crimped primer
Conclusion= don’t use either to reload without swager.
