LMT SS 18" and 20 " Barrels.

The “speculation” is about a 16" CL 1:10 6.8 piston:)

Now that’s the perfect conversion for my MRP !!!

I already confirmed that it is coming out. Probably available now.

Lol…ok, no speculation, its for real.

You did not hear it from me after all:D

For the guys that want the 6.8 piston this is good news. I was surprised to see a 20" 5R barrel, I thought just 18" was coming out.

I wonder why 1:10 when the “experts” claim is 1:11-1:12 is optimal?

Ive asked before and LMT says that if you avoid purposefully hot loaded ammo, these are gtg. Kinda vague but they do know that many people would rather see diff. specs but apparently have reasons for not changing. I have no dog in the fight as I am not a 6.8 guy nor am I a piston one.

Keep in mind Mike Rock makes these 6.8 barrels and he is kinda of an expert;)

The 18" and 20" SS barrels are on LMTs site for $700. I hope the retail price is a good bit less…

They don’t have a lead time listed, I wonder if they are GTG now???

I am assuming that the SS versions are ready to ship now. The 20" CL shows an expected delivery date of 8-10 weeks, since the SS versions show nothing it leads me to believe they are ready to go.

I am fighting back a large urge to order a 20" SS barrel this very moment.

I want to wait and see is places like mstn will be able to knock a few bucks off before I order an 18". I would want to put a different compensator on it, too. The stock barrel is starting to looking more attractive…

$700, ouch. I could get a whole bolt action rifle for that much…

First off I must admit that I am def. scratching my head over the $700msrp on these SS barrels. The .308 SS’s are made by the exact same maker on the exact same machine that makes the .204, 5.56 and 6.8 SS barrels that msrp for $466.

Personally I will take a Rock SS barrel over all others except perhaps a custom Krieger SS and my 5.56 SS’s are worth every red penny of the $466. the actual barrel work/ work that is tantamount to precision like tooling marks as well as the things that are rudimentary in nature yet so few actually do correct like angle drilled gas ports, properly affixed gb’s, etc. being performed by Mike Rock makes these barrels imho easily among the finest precision barrels made today. Just bore scope a new Rock SS barrel if you don’t believe…smooth as a baby’s kister.

The Rock barrel is indeed top shelf priced but in my experience it delivers more than top shelf performance. These .308 SS barrels have already undergone testing with exceptional results (In house tests…the good kind not used for marketing or shared w. the public)

No kidding! if all I really wanted all the precision I could squeze out of a rifle a bolt gun would be my first choice in the first place. I think I will save the dough and keep my LMT as is.

I’m starting to think that my LMT MWS better not get to cozy in my gun safe…

I think Im gonna pull the trigger on a 18" SS barrel on turkey day when I get paid. Hopefully a few retailers get them in by then and offer them a little cheaper.

DO IT!!!

I can only think of one thing personally I would want and buy before a Rock SS barreled MWS…and that is the MRP CQB 10.5" SBR I got in the works. That is only because its my first after waiting all these yrs. of living in Alabama to repeal the SBR/SBS law which happened in July:)

It will be worth it and I personally would buy it direct from Ryan @ LMT…that way no questions asked if its not 100% perfect in the most unlikely of cases. Ryan sent me my recent Rock SS 16" 5.56 barrel and after that order I can say for certain that unless its used I will continue to just deal direct w. Ryan/LMT.

Anyways, love to see you pick it up and hear your thoughts on it if you do

This is quite a large amount of money for a barrel, I’m sure the barrels are quality but I’m having a hard time subjecting my credit card to it. I like the accuracy I’m getting from my stock barrel!

Thats the dilemma I have. I am happy with the accuracy with my stock barrel, but the 18" SS is VERY tempting. I am leaning towards ordering it because I run my MWS as a precision, and rapid fire blaster. I would rather not blast away with cheaper ammo through the SS barrel that I will be using almost exclusively with Hornady ammo.

I would really love to get the LMT MWS in 308 but it is a lot of money. However I would like to save up and get a MRP in 5.56 and also 6.8. The problem with their 6.8 setups are they are not the Spec II chambers and their twist rates. Wish they would correct that but it looks like a no go.

The 6.8 would be my next purchase if they would change their specs.
