I’ve never seen an LMT in person, but a lot of the pics the paint looks really blotchy. Almost like some areas are flat black and some are glossy, like it was spray painted as opposed to an even flat black. I’ve noticed this especially around the safety selector. Any truth to this, or are my eyes messed up??
Uh…not sure what pics you’re looking at, but no AR-15 type rifle/carbine is “painted” anywhere by the manfacturer.
That’s lubricant. It doesn’t just happen to LMTs.

LMTs are finished extremely well – that’s batches of lube looking shiny –
Here are two LMT lowers… PUUUURRRFECT ![]()

Ok good. Dunno why I seemed to notice that more on LMTs. Looks good though, thanks for clarifying.
And the LMT uppers and lowers are NOT painted – they are anodized and then parkerized – they have a smooth, even gray/black finish.
My mistake. I’ve never owned an AR in my life. I’m planning my first build in the next month or so before Obama makes it illegal for me to own one. So I’m not an expert by any means.
Don’t forget to seek some type of competent training along with that new rifle purchase.
My dad was on DCs SWAT team for just under 10 years and I’ve been around firearms my whole life. I may not know all the specifics and tidbids about ar-15s, but that’s competent enough for me…
As far as I’m concerned, you don’t need to know how a gun gets its color in order to shoot it…
He wasn’t being snide. It really seemed like you knew nothing about ARs from your first post.
You put that more eloquently than I was able to do. Thanks ![]()
I think some of the new guys like me that have migrated over from TOS are expecting the worst given the treatment we got over there and may have a hard time distinguishing genuine concern from sarcasm. I find it very difficult to convey tone over a keyboard in exactly the manner I am intending.
Most folks migrate because they’re tired of wading through the BS and actually want to learn something. Just speak from first hand knowledge, instead of “I heard this from a friend of a friend who’s a navy seal” and you’ll be OK Kramerica. The knowledge based threads are a good start. Most of the new guy recurring questions can be answered there.
That’s the truth, I didn’t think he was being sincere. Fact is, I am new to ARs, admittedly. I’ll do my best to search the knowledge base threads. Anyway, my apologies Iraqgunz if I came off harsh.
