LMT MWS HANDGRIP & MORE

You MWS owners have noticed the added “filler rubber” where the hand web meets the grip to fill in the area between the grip and the receiver. Anyone found a grip that fits well without a filler piece? I want to use a different grip. Second question: the safety is just too loose. Anyone know if a spring from another gun will tighten this up a bit? TIA

I fit mine with a Magpul MIAD and just reused the factory rubber filler you spoke about.

I believe Magpul makes or made a piece for this purpose, but since I already had the factory piece I figured I’d give it a whirl.

So far it has functioned perfectly.

It looks like Magpul has a new AR10 specific version of the MIAD coming out.

As for other grips, I’d give them a shot with the factory piece.

I used the rubber insert, no problems at all with it. Now with the MP AR-10 specific piece, I would wait for that and forget about the rubber adapter thingy IMHO.

The grip with the spacer on the LMT rifles are the older type. The newer grips have the spacer built in and fit both 5.56 and .308 receivers. The newer type has been in use for at least two years I would guess. There have been one or two points where due to supply issues the older type was used but that would be a small number.
The feel of the safety is most likely grip related. A change was made to the pocket that holds the spring. If you switch to another grip that most likely will not be a problem. If you use the original grip you can place a small set screw at the bottom of the hole to take up some space.

I run a MIAD on mine and bought the Magpul spacer from Magpul. It works well.

i use a bcm gunfighter, the small gap really doesnt bother me
