Does anyone of you have to re-zero the iron and red-dot sights again after taken the barrel out from upper? It has over 2K rounds through this barrel. Since it’s piston upper system, foul start built up on the inside rail and outside of barrel. It needs to be cleaned.
One of the hesitations to take the barrel out is b/c it might mess up the zero on all sights including back up iron and red-dot. If you have this LMT MRP piston upper, how do you deal with the foul clean up w/o messing up your zero. Or I shouldn’t be concert about this at all?
Why not just take the rail off instead of the whole barrel?
That’s not possible with the MRP (Monolithic Rail Platform).
The forearm rail is monolithic with the upper receiver.
The barrel is relatively quickly changed by removing two cross bolts and pulling the barrel out of the receiver.
I change barrels all the time on different MRP guns.
The shift is minimal/non-existent. Clean it out, re zero and move on!
Regardless of how minimal the effect on zero is by removing & re-installing the barrel on the MRP, you should re-zero your MRP after doing so.
I guess that’s the downsize of having a piston system on MRP. Nevertheless, it runs flawless.
