LMT MRP build. Tech quesions

First let me say hello! This is my first post here, but I’ve been lurking around for quite some time and decided to join this site over others for one reason…more real world end users that want the facts. That said, I am starting a new LMT MRP build and needed clarification on these items. I hope this is the right place to ask as I thought they related more to the technical side vs custom build.

First, are there any disadvantages/problems to going with the rifle length MRP with a 14.5 barrel instead of the CQB length? Basically this would only extend the rail length and all else would be the same correct?

Second, I’ve heard of all the potential problems associated with the “enhanced” BCG. What would I benefit from running an “enhanced” carrier with a standard bolt? I am not going to go full auto or run a can, so would a standard BCG suffice? And yes, this rifle will be put to work.

Thanks in advance for all informaion and advice given!

I own a rifle length MRP and if I had it to do over again I’d go with a CQB length version. First reason is you can use all barrel lengths - 10.5" to 18" - and you can use the piston set-ups as well. Your gas block will be exposed on the 16" and 18" barrels but no worse than any other lo-pro/railed set-up out there.

I honestly would skip the enhanced bolt carrier and just get a M16 style from either LMT or BCM. Mine has worked great for thousands of rounds with an AR-15 style carrier so you may not even need an M16 style one. I think the enhanced carrier is too much money for too little return in the performance arena.

Spooky

Gene from LMT actually recommends running the Standard Bolt Carrier Group if not shooting Full Auto.

Go the CQB length, you won’t be dissapointed.

So the concensus above is pretty much what I was thinking for the BCG… You guys are suggesting o go wih the CQB length, but what differences will that make? If I go with either length, the barrels from 14.5" and up will fit, and I won’t ever be making this a SBR. So, with overall rifle length being the same, what affects would this have on rifle performance if any?
