I’m considering one of these for a variety of reasons, that said has anyone had issues shooting the basic AE .223 ammo? or do you need to shoot “hotter” ammo, in particular the mil 5.56?
I only had issues with shooting Wolf.
I have a 12" piston and my brother in law has one also. Both have 600-800 rounds of Prvi 75gr .223 with not 1 issue. Mine also has 50 rounds of lake city xm193 5.56 55gr and 350 rounds of my reloads with 22gr TAC powder (light load) and 75 gr hornady hpbt match bullets. I’ve not had it long, but it is the finest gun I’ve ever held (and I’ve fondled lots!). No play between upper and lower, and no play in the stock, the whole gun is tightly fitted and no problem making hits on 8" steel at 200 yards standing. Chamber stays clean, but I’m anal and still spend time cleaning the carbon off the piston rod (even though I know I don’t have to until it hits a few thousand rounds). My brother in law runs an AAC m4-2000 can with most of his shooting on the 600 or so rounds of Prvi I mentined above.
I bought one of the first ones and although it was 100% reliable it beat the shit outta the bolt (lugs & face) for some reason. I did shoot it suppressed quite a bit and it always shot “hard”…you know what I mean violent bolt thrust, like it was over gassed but it’s a piston upper.
I now figure that’s why some mfg’s use a multi 0-1-2-3 position gas piston regulator rather than the 0FF-ON that LMT uses.
Well, I went back to DI guns till it’s all sorted out.
