So I’ve been trying to decide which manufacturer I’m going to make my next purchase from and I just discovered that the LMT facility is just 10 min from my house. I’m going to see if they allow tours or anything of the sort. Would be interesting to see the stuff being made.
I’ve wondered this a few times myself since I could literally walk there from my house. Be sure to update if/when you find out!
I hate to bust your bubble, but I would be shocked if your allowed inside for a tour, or a tour that shows you all the various manufacturing and machining areas.
I ask my pal @ LMT some time ago if they allowed tours, and I was told that they don’t do that. I’d give a huge chunk of change in order to be allowed to see a MRP/MWS chassis being machined and manufactured.
At any rate, I wish you luck and it never hurts to ask:)
I wonder why they wouldn’t show you around. I’ve talked to DD on the phone a couple of times because they’re not too far from me and they told me they would take me on a tour of their facility if I ever make it up there.
I stopped in there on my way to the East Coast Navy Matches in 2010 to buy a rail. Did not ask for a tour but had to go to the floor to go get a rail from the cage. You can eat off the floor it is that clean which surprised me. A bunch of nice people.

Too much downside risk of getting mis information or trade secrets released. They have an operation to run… not an amusement park. ![]()
Plus all those MIM machines get hot!!!
Either way if I lived close to any respectable gun company I would try to get a tour.
Or buying a ton of stuff on the way home from work.
Seems odd that they don’t want to show off what they have.
I see folks walking through FN all the time. I’m not sure how they are set-up or with whom but most of them are mil, veterans, local bussiness leaders and sometimes just your average joe.
Give LMT a call and see what they tell you.
EDIT:
Daniel Defense has a couple of good vids of their place: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfCW5H8G2YA&feature=related
.
I did think about that, but there are a lot of large manufacturing companies that don’t advertise tours but will allow people to come through with someone with them. The LMT facility is actually smaller than you would think. We shall see what happens.
Looks like I replied to soon. Received a email that said since they are a department of defense facility tours are prohibited. However they have a small area up front with info etc of products. It was worth a shot.
Sounds like a load of bullshit. FN MAKES most of the small weapon systems the US MIL uses and you can take a tour with them. Its not a DOD facility, they just sell shit to them. CRANE or AMU Shop are DOD facilities.
I see what you did there.

It would have been better if they would have just told you “due to insurance coverage policy” non-LMT types are not allowed out on the floor.
.
Is this going to turn into bashing LMT because they won’t give a tour and folks don’t like the reason given?
I don’t think it will because I understand why they said no. But if others take it there are u going to cry?
I doubt it. LMT could kick puppies and they’d still get my business. ![]()
Noveske won’t give factory tours either…
I guess that means that they are horrible people then…
Look, it is very common in many industries to not give tours.
Just deal with it…
Take a look around, nobody is complaining.
NO not bashing them at all. It’s their house and they are in control of it.
.
I live 30 minutes away from them and ride by the facility often but never have stopped to take a tour.
Honestly I don’t see why a company would refuse a “tour”. I don’t see what “secrets” can be revealed, all your doing is seeing machines.
On that note, you can pretty much see the whole DD factory if you watch their promotional videos. They have scenes of it in almost every one.
