Does anyone else think it should be about $200 less? 6920s appear to have come down to about $1300 lately. I’d be hard pressed to buy an LMT for $50 less than the Colt.
I understand that it comes with and “upgraded” pistol grip and stock, but if you don’t want that particular PG or that particular stock then it’s not really helpful.
Maybe we could get them to sell it without the $200 stock body?
That seems sensible to me. The SOPMOD is sort of their “signature” thing. It’s something they can offer that nobody else can. Anybody (well, any discerning individual :)) who wanted a similar carbine but with an M4 stock would probably already be shopping for a 6920 and wouldn’t even consider LMT. They’re just playing to their strengths and carving their own little distinctive place in the market. I’m guessing they’ve given this matter some thought.
I hope they sell a boatload of these. At $1250 it’s obviously a fantastic deal.
Now I need to go make a few phone calls and tell some people the good news!
I may get some flak for this and do realize that Colt sets the standard for a fighting weapon, but LMT to me is an excellent AR and is on par with Colt IMHO. Colt only makes about 7 things in house any more. LMT makes most everything in house. This gives them the advantage IMHO. I also find LMT much easier to deal with in regards to returns and or parts needed.
I’m really glad that I can finally recommend LMT to people without the caveat that “you can’t get a complete weapon from them.” For some folks, that’s a real turnoff. They may save money getting an upper and lower separately, but they’d much rather just buy it all together and ready-to-go right from the manufacturer.
Grant, just out of curiosity, do you know what the warranty is on these? I’m sure someone will ask me, as that’s usually one advantage of buying a complete weapon.
