Today I picked up a brand new, but not in box LMT 16" complete upper for $590 at my local trusted gun shop. ( VA arms co.)
It came with the LMT tac latch and this bolt.
To my untrained eye it appears to be a M16 bolt.
However after doing some post buy research it seems they are only supposed to come with a standard CH and S/A bolt.
Or was it an option to get these at an extra cost?
Some clarification is what Im looking for on what exactly I have here.

that’s the LMT F/A bolt carrier group. The bolt has LMT’s stress relief undercut at the lugs and carrier has the MIM gas key. It is GTG, they cost the same as the S/A BCG as far as I know. They come fully test fired hence the slightly dirty condition, mp’d and high pressure tested. People will post up that the MIM gas key is the devil, but if yours causes a malfunction, I’ll print this post up and eat it with hot sauce.
How do you determine if it is a MIM’d gas key? I bought a new upper earlier in the year but can’t tell which it is. But I’m not worried about it, just curious.
What is this exactly? I can’t tell a difference between my LMT bolt lugs and those on the BCM bolt that is patiently waiting for its home.
On a spare CMT bolt I notice a small diagonal cutaway on the corner of each of the lugs (the corner opposite the bolt face) which are not present on either the LMT or BCM.
I didn’t know that. I got and LMT from Grant/G&R and I got the SA. I wasn’t given a choice. I wonder if all of his are SA’s. I assume they are a little cheaper?
Are you referring to the shallow channel that is machined around the entire bolt between the bottom rear of the lugs and the rest of the bolt’s body? This channel or “undercut” rounds out the base of the LMT lugs.
I can’t say I understand the functional aspects of the design but it sure makes it easy to identify and LMT bolt from here on.
Here is a thread discussing the LMT Enhanced bolt in which Bill Alexander touches on the lug relief and gives a explanation of the feature…Again,not directly related to the standard LMT bolt but very interesting read on the features and design that LMT has incorporated into their bolt designs…

Blankwaffe Most excellent find!! I have tried on numerous times searching for any post on the LMT enhanced BCG . I have not found that one very good post explaining the enhanced BCG by MR. Alexander.
Those are ads for LMT products, but they are BRAVO/CMT bcg pics. All the MP marks on my bravo/cmt bolts have been laser etched where as my LMT bolts are stamped mp.
