Hello All, Been lurking for about 2 months now. Was set on the BCM Lower with a 16" BCM Middy Upper. Now that Grant has the DD Lower and is putting together DD pencil barrel uppers i am in a “quandry”. If you had to pick one or the other what would you buy and why.
Thanks for all of the information; as it has schooled my up nicely. My priorities for this weapon are reliability, accuracy, defending my last can of beans when required!
Do what I find myself doing far too much of. Go to G&R Tacticals webpage. Build a BCM and build a DD. See which one is lower priced and then back out when you get to the actual checkout part. You can configure it pretty much any way you want.
It’s not about one company making a “better” carbine than the other. Go with the configuration you want, or the lowest price for the exact configuration.
As the two companies offer more and more products and have more and more overlap it’s going to get even harder and harder to decide!
Right now there are enough distinctions between the two product lines that I’m able to find a reason to go with one or the other. For example, I wanted a true lightweight profile, carbine-length gas system, 14.5", hammer forged barrel. DD is the only one selling them. I also wanted a 16", mostly lightweight (has .750 gas block), mid-length gas system, complete upper. BCM gets the nod.
I could go on and on about why I want one vs. the other, what each rifle that they are build into is used for, etc. but for the purposes of this thread I think that it’s fair to say they each offer different benefits.
Now, if you mean you can’t decide between a BCM, hammer forged, 16", M4 profile barrel (are they even doing that?) and the exact same thing from DD, then I can’t help you!
I want to replace my e6600 for something that will run Starcraft 2 at max settings with good FPS. I am very confused with all the new chips out today.
My monitor is 22 and has a rez of 1600ish to 1000ish max.
I would like to stay under 1k if possible and I need everything except monitor, keyboard and mouse.
I would like to be able to OC it easy but no extreme OCing. Just something that gives me a lot of bang for the buck. If I need chip cooling please let me know.
Thanks for any help I can get. I really want opinions on chip/videocard/PS/motherboard but towers memory and anything else I would love to hear too.
Also, I can not reuse any parts from my old PC as I am giving that to the kids.
Dollar wise I would say get the best graphics card you can afford, I would recommend something like the nvidia GTX2xx series, ATI 5770/5850/5870or a 5970 if you can swing it. Then either buy the parts a few at a time or just save up for new cpu/mobo/mem and PSU if your current is all that great. Thats just what I would suggest for gaming.
reality is its apples vs apples. I have one of both and they are both great as Rob_s said it’s about what you want, I tend to like the DD lowers better because of the flared magwell and the machined receiver markings, uppers is a toss for me.
Priced this out on G&R Tactical. Seems to me I can get more bang for the buck on the DD Lower and love (what I have read) the BCM Upper reliability. Would like to mount the M4 Hand grips on this but they are out of stock.
