Lightweight barrel + Suppressor GTG?

Can hanging a suppressor that’s close to or over 1lb have any affects (POI shift)on a LW profile, free-floated barrel 14.5"/16". Thanks in advance.

Any suppressor on any barrel has an effect on POI, it will be exaggerated by a lighter, longer barrel and a heavier suppressor.

I’ve done it before and it worked OK.

I’d use a lightweight can where possible.

It is ENTIRELY unique to each barrel.

I have a Bushmaster M4 14.5" barrel that doesn’t shif POI for shit. Can, No can, Mount, A2 Flash hider… that barrel shoots within 1 MOA no matter what I hang on it.

I have a DD lightweight CHF barrel and it has pretty substantial POI shift with my AAC 416 suppressor. By contrast, there was no noticeable shift on my 416 10.3 inch barrel. Of course, the barrel on the 416 is about as big as a sewer pipe so I wouldn’t expect it to.

I just put together a Colt 6921 upper with a DD 12 FSB rail. I am going to see how much it shifts this weekend.

Please post your experience. I don’t have the sbr option, and am hesitant about pinning a suppressor mount with all the new products coming out nowadays. A 16" will be my next upper, and if it gets a can, I’d like it to be as light as possible. Just not at the expense of accuracy, unless it’s minimal.

I was notionalizing on this over the last week and got to thinking about the issue of receiver flex with flat top uppers.

My Bushmaster has a standard A2 upper which is much stronger than a regular flat top. I’m sure just the weight of the can alone is making the Free Floated flat top 14.5 inch barrel sag lower than the Bushmaster.

My POI shift on the flat top is about 4 MOA down.
