Light Mount For 20 ga. M500 Bantam

An elderly neighbor just acquired a 20 ga. M500 Bantam (8-shot tube, ghost ring sight and 12" LOP.)

What is the best way to mount a light? Other less expensive alternatives?

Which lights would you recommend? (I recognize this is not the light thread; nevertheless, anyone responding probably has a good suggestion.)

Mossberg sells a tactical tri-rail. The basic version I have seen on ebay for about 30 bucks.

Least expensive(and really a good way to do it) is install a piece of add on rail on the forearm. The ones that go through the vent holes on A2/CAR
forearms work well for this although you may need a longer screw or nut & washer depending on how they are set up.

A weaver top mount ring and 1" light that can handle the recoil are about as low cost of an option available.

It sounds as if your neighbor might be on a budget, I actually found this listed on Sniper’s Hide with this post: For those of you still open minded, I haven’t had a single issue with my Nebo light mount. For $20 and perfect functionality, I can’t imagine what else someone would need. Cheers…

TacStar @ 19.00 http://www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/flashlights-accessories/flashlight-mounts/4-universal-flashlight-mount-sku867000011-23226-49412.aspx

Still assuming Budget - these are surprisingly good lights:

800 Lumens @ 50.00 http://www.lapolicegear.com/lapg-operator-l1-flashlight.html (I have several of the lapg operator lights in differing lumens - no problem - I have too many weapons to spend 200.00 plus a light plus I carry them when dog walking)

Streamlight ProTAC HL 750 Lumens @ 66.99 (read the reviews - I don’t have this one) http://www.lapolicegear.com/st-88040-protac-hl.html

I’d recommend the Surefire G2X Tactical in that budget range. Surefire durability and 320 lumens for $54 shipped.
