Built this last year to have a light, simple rifle. Started out with a Spikes Hobeybadger stripped lower receiver. From there I got a complete Spikes 14.5" LW upper with BCG. The pinned Dynacomp went in favor of an AAC Beakeout 2.0 that was drilled and pinned. Receivers were creacoated Magpul FDE to match the MOE furniture. LPK came from Accurate Armory. Put on a Daniel Defense rear sight and an Inforce WML and added a QD socket to the handquard for the VCAS sling. Came in right around 7lb empty and is a nice shooter.
I think many people would interpret KISS as having a red dot optic. If you went with a micro red dot like an RMR or Deltapoint, you could ditch the BAD, mag pod and rail covers, and get a lighter rear sight, and pretty much break even on weight.
I generally don’t worry about weight. However, my RECCE build has a 16" fluted barrel, and a light rail, and is lighter than my 9.5" SBR that has a heavy barrel, foregrip and light on a heavier rail. Been thinking of putting my SBR on a diet, but it works well as is.
