Whitaker’s is where I bought all of my guns when I was at Campbell. It was about an hour up Pennyrile Pkwy in West Owensboro.
I could get guns at wholesale through a shop in Clarksville and yet it was worth the drive because his shelf price is below wholesale on a lot of stuff. He has about 20 Million in inventory at any time. Maybe 5000 long guns on display and 2500 handguns, plus a huge warehouse of back-stock. On weekend people would drive like 8-12 hours to come buy guns and they would have folks directing traffic and there would be a wait to get in the door. This is a 40K sq.ft. showroom mind you…
Whittaker’s is a great shop. What is great about it is that you can handle just about everything in the shop without having to find someone behind a counter to get one for you. Just go up to the rack and actually check out the gun that you want to buy.
I got some great deals up there when I used to live in Clarksville. Well worth the drive, chances are if it is available, he will probably have it or be able to get it pretty fast and his used gun racks usually have some fabulous deals.
I forgot to mention that Whitaker’s would not accept backorders however they advised to call back weekly until in stock. They also stated that price was just over $2K.
The only rear sight I use, from 7.5" to 20", from .22LR to .308, is the KAC 600M (or Micro 600M). It’s extremely low profile, the aperture is very effective, and it’s unobtrusive if you like to run it deployed all the time (I don’t).
Troys are great, the low-pro MI sight is a great bargain, but I like the KAC personally.
