Lever Gun Caliber choice Help

Do any of you guys have experience with Gforce arms? It’s apparently an importer of Turkish 1892 reproductions and they do 44 magnum with a threaded barrel. These guns are out there for under $500… which seems crazy.

Normally, I’d be an advocate of the whole “you get what you pay for” and “buy once, cry once” but… Maybe 6 years ago I bought a Turkish Tisas 1911 (thinking it would be a POS) for about $250 brand new and it shoots every bit as good as my Dan Wesson…

The fact that it shoots as good as a tuned competition gun kind of pisses me off. Mind you, it’s not anywhere near as nicely finished and the trigger isn’t as good. But that doesn’t stop me from cleaning targets.

… So now I shoot that Tisas 1911 more than any other because I don’t care what happens to it and it performs just as well; all while my high end stuff sits in the safe doing nothing. I’d be lying it I said it was perfect. It came cerakoted or something and it had some spots that I didn’t like the feel of so I polished those edges smooth and refined the shape a bit. In doing so, I discovered that the whole thing, including small parts are made of stainless steel. $250 and it’s now one of my favorite range and steel competition guns.

Anyway, I’m wondering if these Turkish lever guns might be kind of the same hidden value.

With a experience of one, The one I shot and handled was not worth it. soft metal. rattled like a tin can with ball bearing in it. hand guard could not be tightened up. and the stock wobbled. again, ony based on one experience.

Turkish means an automatic no from me

Robbins, was that experience with the GForce lever action, or Turkish manufacture in general? I only ask because I wasn’t clear based on your post.

Overall. I have seen Turkish made guns that cover the spectrum in terms of quality. From junk to legit heirloom quality firearms (with a corresponding price point). That is pretty much the case in all contract manufacturing though. No matter where it is made.

OP, sorry but I don’t have any knowledge about the GForce lever guns. Their shotties are kind of “meh” , and QC is hit and miss.

This was the Gforce that was on sale for 399 a few months ago. the wood stocked one. I think it was called the saddlehorn or something.

Good to know. What information I could find suggested that the receivers on the Turkish rifles are aluminum…that disqualifies them for me.

I stopped by a LGS today and they had a 1894 Trapper in .357, and SBL in 45 70 and a Henry HUSH in 44 Mag. The Henry was pretty nice, very very smooth…but no iron sights. I didn’t think that would bother me, but it did when I held it.

The Marlin/Rugers were just amazing though. The Trapper was so sweet in the hands… WAY better than I was expecting. And I really like the look. But I do want a rail on top, so SBL is probably where’s it at. After handling the 45 70 SBL, I’m just trying to find a way to rationalize it…. Gotta forget it and just stick to 44 Mag.

I had a Rossi .357 “Mares Leg” & now have a Rossi 16 in threaded .44 mag. Both work great. No complaints.

Okay, the “Mares Leg” kinda stinks. The kever is very clumsy with no stock mounted to your shoulder. But it worked fine, otherwise. Very smooth actions.
