FYI…Leupold raised the price on their new VX-6 line by $250 on their website today. I’ve been studying the new crop of 1x6 scopes and after considering the options, price point, weight of the scope, history of customer service, and smart views from members of this forum…I’ve decided to buy a Leupold VX-6 1x6. In fact, I’ll buy it tonight before the retailers move their prices north as well. It’ll mount on top of a SCAR 17. I’ll try to offer the M4C community a little feedback after I get everything GTG. The other choices I carefully considered were the Vortex new HD 1x6 and Swarovski 1x6.
so they raising them because they keep putting useless reticles in them? hopefully it’s to fund the r&d for a reticle with actual utility

Dealers in the end will be lowering the prices as the vx-6 continues to sit on shelves. While the 1-6 magnification is OK, the total lack of other compelling features does not vault this scope into the higher price range.
I have the Leupold VX-6 1x6 on the top of my list too, but I am waiting for dealers to actually have stock on hand to ship. I am not willing to part with my hard earned cash only to be put on an endless waiting list with an unknown release date.
The Leupold VX-6 1x6 looks like a fantastic scope, but the price point is a bit high for comparable scopes being introduced on the market. I feel that it will hurt sales if the dealer prices goes over 2K. Hopefully the price will be more competitive once it actually becomes available and sits idle on dealer shelves for a few months.
Edit: I stand corrected, sorry for the mistake. I have had the Mark 6 on my brain lately…DOH!
The VX6 was $799 and $899 for the non-illuminated and illuminated models.
That would be a hell of an increase to hit $2k. I suspect you are thinking of the Mark 6.
Leupold made a half effort with the 3-gun version of the VX6 that had the SPR reticle.
When compared to other scopes on the market, that actually are on the market, the VX6 is at the low end of the price scale.
I think you are confusing the VX-6 model with the Mark 6 model.

great scope and I am running it back and forth on my 5.56 for 3 gun and a 6.8 for hog hunting.
I did communicate that a TMR reticle or one with even just basic mil markings (similar to the BRT/BRH Swarovski reticle) would be great…
The VX6 has surprisingly good glass even in low light…
it’s light weight, the small illuminated dot gets very bright, not quite “aimpoint bright” but plenty bright for full on Texas summer sun as well as being able to be dim enough to actually be useful for hunting in very, very low light unlike so many other scopes.
I like that it is compact and light weight and even moved my S&B 1.5-6x42 from my 6.8 to a 308 bolt due to the more compact size and lightweight of the VX6.
I like that reticle turns off if left on and comes back on with movement so you aren’t draining the battery accidentally.
It’s a very nice scope at just under a grand retail…
The reticle isn’t perfect but it’s fast and I have no problem shooting it from point blank out to 500 on steel plates
I recently purchased a vx-6. So far it seems to be a great scope. The eye box is very forgiving even when compared to other high end scopes. The actually have a circle dot listed on there site but it is actually the new circle dot post reticle. It basically has a plex reticle with a 18moa or 5 mil circle with fire dot illumination. So basically it works out for my loads and zero to give me a 450 yard hold and 600 yards hold. I have been pretty impressed so far.

I run a 250 yard zero with the 77s
With a 16 barrel I am running 2725 FPS
Shooting 55s for 250 and under
Switch to the 77s for our matches which usually only has a few targets at 250 and 450
Close enough to make the hits on plates
My task will be 300 yds and in…a sophisticated ranging reticle will not add value for my use on top of a SCAR 17. Dead zero at 200 yds and know the #'s for the load at 100 and 300yds. There are many skilled shooters on this forum who can reach waayy out there and benefit from Horus and other TMR type reticles. That’s great but I’m not that guy and my 3 Gun shoots, hunting areas, etc… rarely provide shooting opportunities past 300yds and usually it’s 150yds and closer. My positive takes on the VX-6: Clear Glass, Lightweight, Illumination dot for help with 1x power 3 Gun close shots, Leupolds history of good CS, and good price for what it delivers. The negatives…well, I’ll ring those out when I get it mounted and send rounds downrange…and I’ll report back to the M4C community. I’ll have the scope and mount set up next week…but a Motorcycle ride with my buddies will push my shooting time back two weekends from now.
Great technology, but the reticles are trash left over from the VX-R line. I’d own one if they put their real SPR reticle, or a Swarovski circle dot clone reticle in there (like they had at the shot show).
The circle dot reticle they have in there is a joke, should be called the “crosshairs with a circle” reticle.

I’ll be very interested in your take on it. I bought one with the circle dot, and frankly, I’m not that happy with it. I lose the reticle when trying to use it fast at close range. I bought it for an upgrade to my TR24, but so far, the TR24 works better for me at shorter ranges, though it’s great at 300.
It is a very nice scope however, and all the positives you mentioned are true. Maybe it’s just me or my astigmatism.
Agreed. It’s probably going to end up on one of my lightweight hunting rifles.
