I just picked this up from someone who purchased it new in 2001. I called Leupold with the serial number today and confirmed the MFR date. Brand new in box, never mounted or used. Absolutely perfect condition with all factory accessories, paperwork, etc.
Since purchasing this last week I simply changed my mind (was going to have it sitting in a QD mount as an alternate optic for one of my AR’s).
The power ring is a little stiffer on these older models. Works perfectly, but a little stiff. I asked Leupold about it when I was on the phone with them today and they said they would replace it with a new o-ring material (what they’re currently using) that makes it easier to turn at no charge under warranty…just send it to them. Also, if you want a different reticle (mil-dot, TMR, etc) Leupold will install it for $160. Honestly, though, if you’re shooting known distance stuff and/or using a laser range finder, the simplicity of the duplex reticle is refreshing.
For those that may not know, this is the same scope as what Leupold now sells under the Mark 4 LR/T brand. Back in 2001, only the fixed power scopes were called “Mark IV.” I have a current production Mark 4 version of this same scope with TMR reticle that I purchased new last year and have it on my .308 bolt rifle. Absolutely fantastic scope and no wonder the military still uses it on the M24 and M110 sniper rifles.
Selling for $700 (These bring $1099+ new). Not really interested in any trades. I have a Benelli SBS I need to pay off with this cash.
Thanks!
