Leupold Firedot

Does anyone have any experience with this scope?

VX•R 1.25-4x20mm

The FireDot scopes do not seem to part of Leupold’s Tactical line.

It seem to sell for just over $400.

I have not even seen one in stores. Any insight into this product would be appreciated.

I doubt, however, that this would qualify as the hottest, most wanted scope to get, in this category.

Firedot review…

I cut this out of the “Latest and Greatest” thread and made it it’s own thread.

I got a couple of these to try out a work on our patrol rifles. I have the firedot circle #111231. I am still waiting on the firedot 4 #110683 to come in. I mounted one of the ten I have in a LT104 to go on my LWRC patrol rifle. I went with the firedot circle because I argued the circle and dot were vaguely similar to the eotechs we currently have and would aid in any transition we did with officers. I know it sounds kind of weak but the command bought off on it.

I have taken the one on my rifle to the range a few time last week and have about 500 rounds through the rifle with the scope mounted. I picked the firedot circle over the patrol, because I didn’t want the exposed turrents. The scopes mounted on rifles will probably be in trunks since they don’t fit in the current rifle rack the way it is set up. Also the patrol scope didn’t come out until after I ordered the 111231.

I took a couple of crappy photos and they are about the best my camera will do. The circle seems to cover the 11 inches of the inner part of the CAT IV target I use on 4 power. On 1x the circle covers the outer edges of the standard 24 inch cardboard backing. I don’t have access to a longer range so that’s about it. The reticle lines look to me to be 1 inch thick since they cover 1/2 inch at 50. The dot is definately for low light. You can see it in the bright sun but it is not a red dot. The glass is typical Leupold crystal clear. Here are my horrible target photos. I can take others of the actual scope mounted in anyone cares. David

1x at 50 yards. The front sight is not as noticable with the naked eye

4x at 50 yards. Hard to get my camera to focus on the reticle and target.

About the clearest 4x photo I could get
