Leupold 15-45x60 SX-1 Ventana vs Leupold Golden Ring 15-30X50

I’ve been looking for spotting scopes within the $500 range to hold me over until I can buy a nicer model sometimes down the road.

My choices have been narrowed down the the Ventana 15-45 or the Gold Ring 15-30. Initially, the 20-60 Ventana looked quite nice, but that thing is HUGE. The Vortex Nomad 20-60 looks exceptional for the price, but the eye relief will not be sufficient with my glasses on.

This is how I’ve gotten to my final two. I will buy the ‘kit’ versions that come with a hard case and tripod. The Gold Ring has the tripod that I prefer, but that’s not a deal breaker since I can always replace the crap one with the Ventana once I get a few extra bucks.

I’m posting to see if anybody has some experience with these and might have a preference one way or another. The higher magnification is a plus, but if clarity is higher in the Gold Ring then resolution at distance might actually be better. Any experience with these? Any expectations for ranges on seeing 5.56 on target?

Thanks in advance.

The leupold 15-30 gets a big following from the guys on The Optics Talk forum. I’ve looked thru them and as an eyeglass wearer, the eye relief is great. However, I caught the 15-40x60mm Gold Ring on Amazon a few years back for $795 - now that’s a nice spotter.
