I am fairly new to better quality, variable power optics and am in the middle of a SPR-ish build.
I was looking at an Accupoint, until I read the sticky about optics for home defense and got to the part about the Leupy 1.5-5X and that caught my eye. I was looking over their website and can’t quite wrap my head around the bullet drop compensator. It says 223/556, is it a default bullet weight or are they all close enough that it does not really matter? Also, trying to figure out the reticle, what is that on the lower elevation scale?
One more question. I am used to shooting an EOTech on my M4gery, local IPSC matches and such, how much different is a 1.5X to the no magnification for quick targeting?

I have one of these scopes, the elevation dial says 62 gr. on it and it has MOA and yardage markers (62 gr BDC). The reticle is in mils. Each hash is 2.5 mils. The circle is 5 mils. I have used it to get hits on target out to 735yds. The reticle is lit but not daylight visible like a RDS.
Pardon the newbie question but, not day light visible you mean you can’t see the reticle at all during the day?
You can see the Reticle, just like the crosshair in any Scope. It’s the Illumination you can’t see in daylight. It’s not bright enough.
OK, so then it would effect the performance of quick target acquisition in day light at close quarters?
at low power your eye is drawn to the large circle and that is workable for most closer ranges. none of leupold’s reticles are daylight visible.
OK cool. The price is about what I am looking to spend, LaRue has the package with the SPR mount.

The lighted reticle certainly has advantages in low light. However, if it isn’t visible during the day you might consider the Mark 4 1.5-5 with the SPR, but no lighted reticle. It’s $650 at SWFA, but it’s also a a 1" tube. Just a thought.
