Let’s share our ideas for letters to our representatives…

We all need to be contacting our Senators and Congressman on the issues at hand, and strike while the iron is hot to minimize thier willingness to support any new legislation.

I know I have trouble sitting down and taking the time to write letters and emails; even though it’s so important, putting it to paper can be a struggle for me. Even if it turns out good it usually takes me forever. Not everyone is a writer, so let’s share our letters, ideas for letters, etc. Even if people are just copying and pasting from this thread, it’ll save time and get more flak in the air on the issue!

I sent this to my Rep. this morning, and my Senators will be receiving somethign similar (but Senate specific) soon:

Representative Cole,

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy is trying to use the emotional unrest of those involved to help push her own political agenda and this cannot be allowed. She and her ilk fully intend to capitalize on the fear and emotion of the nation to ramrod their own political agenda of widespread disarmament.

Her bills, HR 1022 and HR 1859, are egregious assaults on freedom in America. If you review her proposals, you will find the underlayment for the complete destruction of the Second Amendment. Please remember, sir, that the right to keep and bear arms is not about sporting purposes or hunting, it is about every individual’s right to be armed in defense of his or her self, family, property, and country. The Bill of Rights does not give us this right any more than it grants the right to free speech or religion; it is a guarantee that the government recognizes that natural, inborn right and promises that it “shall not be infringed.”

There can be no compromise on this issue. Compromise implies that both sides gain a little, but time and time again, our freedom has been compromised away, giving up more and getting nothing. When we are asked to give up everything, and then only half is taken, that is not compromise! I have a six-month-old daughter and I cannot stomach the thought of her growing up in a world devoid of the liberties I have been blessed with. We cannot allow the continual erosion of the liberty in the name of safety, or soon there will be neither, and we will find ourselves merely existing on the will of others in the same pathetic socialism as our fair-weather friends in Europe (who are already blaming America’s freedom, not the killer, for the events of this week).

Rep. Cole, I urge you to fight against HR 1022, HR 1859, and similar proposals at all costs. Merely voting against them is not enough, and I ask earnestly that you would actively campaign amongst your peers against any such legislation. Please do not allow these to be amended onto other bills, no matter their importance. I assure you that this issue is of the utmost importance to your constituency, and championing this cause will ensure our continued support and gratitude. Please do not hesitate to contact me using the information supplied below. This issue has the full attention of myself, my friends, family, and coworkers and we will assist you in these efforts in any way possible.

Representative Diaz-Balart,

I am writing to in utter disgust of the current situation in the United States of America. This nation that was founded with certain rights and liberties in mind that are being questioned more and more each day. I think it is completely despicable and grotesque that a representative would use the emotions of grieving constituents to push a personal agenda. I am speaking about Rep. Carolyn McCarthy and her proposed bills (H.R. 1022 and H.R. 1859).

What is needed in this country is not an Assault Weapons Ban or a bill to limit the amount of ammunition that is allowed to be carry per magazine. What is the purpose and what is resolves by having such a bill in place? ABOSULUTELY NOTHING! By themselves, firearms and magazines are mere pieces of metal and plastic that on their own are capable of nothing. If on their own they are capable of nothing then obviously the problem does not lie within in them and no regulation on them needs to be made.

The problem lies with the people behind them. This is no different than an insurgent in Iraq with a bomb attached to them. If no one is aware of it, how can one defend against it? I do not have the answers to these complex problems, but it is more then obvious that bills H.R. 1022 and H.R. 1859 will do nothing and are pointless. The only thing these bills will accomplish is to interfere with our Second Amendment right to bear arms.

My Message to Senator Richard (R) Burr:

Dear Mr. Burr,
I have been a resident of NC since I came to this state April 23rd, 1990, when I stepped aboard Camp Geiger NC for Infantry School.
It has been almost exactly 17 years. I love this state, and cannot imagine living anywhere else.
I served my country for 6 years in the US Marines as an Amphibious Infantry NCO. I grew up in Michigan, NC, VA, and FLA. My father was a Marine, My brother was a Sailor, Stationed in NC at Camp Lejeune, and then an Army Officer, Stationed at Ft Bragg. We are a family of freedom fighters, patriots, and law abiding citizens. I am writing you about HR1022, the newest attack on my Constitutional right to bear Arms. I am pleading with you, help keep America armed. Disarming us would remove our only defense against Tyranny, Crime and Oppression. I fought for my country, now you need to fight for your citizens that you represent. Help Defeat HR1022.
