I’m looking to shoot subsonic 9mm on the cheap.
Unique is the powder.
Is 147 the lightest I can go, or can I load 135 subsonic and still cycle a stock m&p? I have a Wolff spring assembly, so I can drop to a 15lb spring for cheap.
How tight is your gun? What is the recoil spring and the main spring tension?
I am afraid the best you can get is that x load cycles some one’s gun, but that won’t guarantee that it will function in your gun.
It shouldn’t be that hard to get under 1115 fps with almost any 9x19, but your gun may not be almost any gun. With a 147gn bullet, your gun should be able to function at <950 fps easily. Even a max charge of AA7 will only get about 1050 fps.
Another really effective option to consider is Winchester Super Field. Most of the guys in my area use it with 147 gr Hornady bullets at about 1000 fps for bowling pins.
Titegroup, Solo 1000, N320, and N340 wprk well too. I have a sub load that uses 124gr and N340 that shoots great. I also have a 115gr sub load using Ramshot Zip that runs great in a 9mm AR and HK P7 but won’t reliably cycle a browning action

I do 147s (as cheap as I can find them) over 4.0 - 4.2 of Unique and it runs great in all my glocks. Can is a Tirant 9.
Okay, thanks. I’m pricing out to run them in an mp, and trying to decide if it’s worth it or not to reload for 9, as I do 40 now. The silencer will be shared with a 300blk so I’m not sure how much quiet time I’ll have on pistol.
9mm subs are easy to load to with no cycling issues with 124 gr. bullets.
Load them to 1,080 - 1,100 fps depending on sea level and they’ll cycle any gun and will be less expensive than 135 gr. or 147 gr. pills at the expense of slightly (very slightly) more powder w/powder being much cheaper than bullets.
Do you find that load to be dirty?

There are better powders suited to subsonic than Unique, but it will work. WST, TG, N310, N320, Zip, WSF, #2, etc.
Since you aren’t using these for terminal performance, the actual velocity isn’t important as long as they are subsonic. Be aware of suppressor boost. It isn’t critical that your bullets are just under sonic velocity. 3.6gr N320 and 4.0gr WSF are my better loads for subsonic 9mm and they have plenty of room for suppressor boost.
I load Hornady 124 gr FMJ and Rainier 147 gr lead copper plated bullets with Ramshot Silhouette. They cycle flawlessly and I run them over the chrono to perfect my load. I only use the silhouette because that’s all I can find locally in the 4 lb kegs. If I ever find Ramshot True Blue or Ramshot Zip, I will give that a try in 9mm.
Your sing you can load 124gr subs? I’m trying to figure how cheap I can make them and if it’s worth buying a co version kit for my reloader. I may hold off and see how often I shoot it.
If cost is your concern here is an example, using 3.1gr of Bullseye with a coated 147 I get 905fps out of a G17, at a cost of less than $0.12 each (I say less than because I did not pay $25 per pound for powder). Range pickup brass, not paying for my time, and not amortizing equipment. 124s would be fractions of a cent less. TG gives very similar results.

Yes I was loading the 124 gr to 1070 FPS from a Glock 17. The 124 actually cost more than the 147 gr plated bullets, but I bet you could find 124 gr that a plated for less than the 147’s
