Is there any way for me to properly ID if a LPK is genuine Colt parts? Its from a private party that says its from a Colt AR that had about 40 rounds through it. I don’t want to be scamed. Any advice on confirming the parts are Colt would be appreciated.
Most of the Colt stuff I have seen (trigger and hammer) is marked with an S in a square. This is from Schmid(?).
The other parts would be hard to tell, but they usually have a more parkerized look to them. I wouldn’t fret on the little stuff, just the FCG.
Like gunz said, there is an S in a square on the safety and the hammer is notched. Other than that, who knows.
Unless you really trust the guy, I’d stay away.
Why would someone strip a Colt rifle to sell the lower parts kit? Sounds pretty shady.
This!
Also what gunz and samuse stated with the markings.
Could just be a guy that decided to replace his FCG, pins, grip, selector, etc. as part of a campaign of upgrades.

The current selector will have the full length thumb pad and an S with some other stuff on the top of the thumb pad (when in the “SAFE” position)
I’ve done it because I wanted to build a replica M16A2 with a colt lower. I kept most of the parts though. No need to replace the FCG for service rifle matches.
