I stumbled on this today, I guess this company has been working with BATF to make a civilian version of the M18 smoke grenade. I’ve seen other airsoft style smokes but I don’t think they operate like the M18’s They are on pre-order now but seem pretty solid.
I think we should just get rid of the ATF.

What makes the M18 not civilian approved? The ignition assembly?
I would think it has to do with the ignition, because if you had the same grenade with a fuse that you lit, that would be legal (in most states)

M18’s use a 2 second delay fuse assembly for ignition, I believe ATF thinking was fuse and can of black powder and you could make a grenade. But how useful is a grenade that goes off in 2 seconds and uses a fuse assembly that costs 50-100 $.
That’s what I heard or read… but never really confirmed.

I saw a Facebook post from a training group in PA that will be selling them in stores I’d imagine they would be about $35 in brick and mortar stores to cover the hazmat fees and make a little profit.

I thought enola gaye smokes were pretty good (from what I read). Do they not come close to m18?
I’ve had issues with Enola Gaye smoke grenades not igniting if they get wet. I live in Oregon so that kind of sucks. Also they can be used for marking, but I don’t think they work as well for concealment as a real one.
Yes, the EG18X smokes are not bad, as far as compared to a legit M18.
However as TM mentioned, it’s just a paper tube- if it gets wet, you’re screwed. Also, on some occasions, all Enola Gaye smokes have the potential to burst into flame one activated, IF you throw them hard enough against a hard enough surface.
But I still have a couple of the 18X ones, as they’re about as good as it gets for now.
Correct, the M18’s M201A1 igniter/fuse is made with a Perchlorate mixture, Perchlorate is on the BATFE list of explosive compositions.

Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms should be a chain store not a Gov Agency. I think we could do away with a lot of the gov. I’d love to see the Gov severely downsized. I’ll compromise though, we can keep the ATF but we will sever their entire budget and fire everyone except for 5 people, give them a small trailer home to work out of, and give them no legal power at all! Just kidding. I hope the ATF is abolished.
Where did those ALS smokes fall? I remember having those several years back… metal bodies, pin/spoon ignition, etc. I forget what dealer sold them, but I remember the second set I bought, they shipped them USPS priority I think.
