LED upgrade for Surefire Forend?

Im looking for a drop-in LED upgrade for the SF 618 forend on my Remington 870. I want to use the Malkoff M60 LED Module, I did some searching but couldnt find a definate answer as to if it will fit or not? I would really appreciate some help or advice from the SF gurus…

Thanks in advance

If your SF.618FA/LF/FGA/LFG originally takes a P60/P61 LA, the Malkoff Devices should drop-in quite nicely. In fact most of the 6P/6Z/Z2/G2/G2Z/C2/M2 series of lights and even the 9V that take the P6#/P9# LAs should be able to work with Gene’s drop-in LEDs, unless otherwise indicated.

Hope you find what you’re looking for and Enjoy!

I just put a Malkoff M60 in my Surefire 628 for my MP-5. It did drop right in without the $1.00 washer, but I added the washer to be safe. The light did not work out the gate until I took out the M60 and stretched the spring on the back a bit so that it was touching the top of the battery, then no problem. Beware stretching the spring as it looks like you could pull it right out of the device. Pull it out loop by loop between two sets of pliers was my method. As CLHC said, if you’re replacing a P60 or P61 or P90 lamp, no problem.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated!

Works fine in all my SF shotgun forends. Whether you need the washer is hit or miss, but you can remove all doubt by wrapping the drop in with some foil or copper sheeting to make it fit snug but still able to move in and out. This way, regardless of the elasticity of your shock absorbing head you will still be able to make negative contact between the head and the drop in.

This may not apply to the Malkoff drop-in, but if you planned on using our P60L, refer below:

It’ll work, but you won’t get the advertised runtime and output (80 Lumens/11 hours)
Your original 618 forend has a shock-isolated bezel with a layer of insulation, which was originally there to prevent the P60 lamp assembly from blowing under weapon recoil. This insulation does not do a very great job insulating heat from the LED, so it will regulate itself to a lower output (which also leads to extended runtime)

SureFire will be releasing a BP60L which is a packaged P60L with standard bezel for converting your 628, 618, 623, 617, 660, 636, etc… If you already have P60L and you are running it in your weaponlight with the insulating layer, shoot me a PM and we’ll get you fixed up.
