Layne Norton (Biolayne) IPF World Meet - New WR Squat 93kg class

Not sure how many of you guys follow Dr. Layne Norton (Biolayne) and what he’s been doing lately. I’ve been following his training updates on YouTube ever since he competed at the Arnold Classic, leading up the International Powerlifting Federation’s World meet.

Needless to say, the guy had an awesome weekend. Set a new world record in the squat for the 93kg class, and placed 2nd overall in his weight class (1,759lb total).

Squat - 668lb (new WR)
Bench - 380lb
Deadlift - 710lb

Congrats to layne!

All three attempts of all three lifts (squat/bench/deadlift):

Layne talks the talk and walks the walk.

Serious mind games happening there. Just unfathomable and admittedly I would be scared as shit.

The deep(correct) squat really is a lost art form in most gyms, has been incorrectly taught in high school gyms then incorrectly disseminated in private gyms later in life. You see guys loading up the racks and moving 8 inches then come up grunting the whole time. Then give other guys smirks when they do 2/3 the weight with correct form.

This video has me motivated to get legs done today.

Layne is the man, he weighs roughly what I do, and I could never fathom getting under that bar. For one I would have never got it off so I wouldn’t have killed myself, but even before I was temporarily disabled 325 was my best ever.

I can only go slightly past parallel ever since having my l4-l5 disc fused, but I see the people doing what you mention. It just bugs me, because I would kill to have a fully functional back again and they just neglect what they have. Gyms are no longer for people who want to train hard, and leave blood, sweat, and puke behind. Its now just a place everyone goes so they can talk about going to the gym.

For men and women who love to train its nice to have guys like will, and layne to kill the era of bro science. My back kept me out of action for a long time, and I paid zero attention to anything fitness related. Looking or reading anything fitness related just made me depressed, because I couldn’t partake. Now that im back, and I find blogs like the brinkzone I just wish the information was as easily accessible before. Sorry for goin off track your post just brought out a rant.

thank you will for what you give to the community. I would thank layne but I doubt he is a member.

Oh but he is! Posts on here as BioLayne from time to time and is an avid shooter.

Really that blows my mind. Well biolayne if you see this thanks for the videos. There great.

He’s got my total beat by about 350 pounds and weighs 23 lbs less than I do. Guy’s a bamf. Also humbling.

He has my total beat by probably 1400 pounds, and I weigh what he does roughly.
