Everyone here was talking about how great the movie was. I was under the impression that it was some guy taking on vigilante justice and ridding the world of bad guys and corruption.
So for all you who liked it so much, was this your impression? I was rooting for Jamie Fox after about half way through the movie. Who were you guys rooting for?
Okay that is a good question. The movie tackled to themes. One the fairness of the justice system and two real justice ass passed down from the old testament. At first, I rooted for the father who was offing the scum that killed his family. The killing of the judge was in the gray area. Now killing Fox’s staff and his mentor just to prove a point was a bit much (mission creep) and you have to root for Fox. Bottom line up front is that man’s justice will always be found lacking. Only God can sit in judgment of our acts.

I was on Butler’s side initially (when he dealt with the first two guys). My sympathy for him ramped down from the next kill on.
I liked the movie.
I felt that when Gerard Butler’s character went over the line (i.e. murdering innocent people not directly involved that was a clear line of demarcation for me) in his strategy, I began routing for Jamie Fox at that point.
I’m all for the comeuppance the booger eating perps got however.
I rooted for Foxx after Butler killed the girl with the car bomb.
I’m straight down the line with everyone else here. First up score it all for Butler, then he starts blowing up and shooting up a bunch of people that didn’t even have jobs there when it all happened?
For some reason I saw the whole Judge/cell phone thing coming when the phone rang. But I can’t recall if she had a roll to play earlier on in the original courtroom trial or not. I probably looked away or zoned out to catch that connection.
But my real question is 10 years? Really Girard, it took you ten years to kill the main player that raped and killed your wife and little girl and destroyed your life? I can see having to bide your time for a decade to get the schmuck that had an execution date but seriously, you let that other greasy bastard live for ten more years? Lets hope in your current movie that if someone smokes Jennifer Anniston during the opening credits you’re a little more Johnny on the spot with the “Dexter”. I guess Girard Butler’s probably not going to be reading this.
But, anyway, yeah I agree with the rest of you guys.
LOL I haven’t seen the movie yet. Is it worth watching?

I think its worth watching, some pretty crazy weapons get used 
guys the movie steered us that way to like the father at first, natural human emotions unless your a psycho, and then he goes to far and your with Fox 
That was one of the stupidest fucking movies that I have ever seen.
And that’s coming from a guy who loved “Stealth” and “S.W.A.T.”.

Who would you have rooted for if the “writer/director” hadn’t made the victim into a bad guy? What if Butler had just attacked the specific corrupt & criminal persons? Would Fox’s character have undergone the “character growth” with out Butler’s actions as a catalyst? Do the redeemed badguys (Fox) deserve praise at the expense at destroying a good man they broke down? The story efforts at analyzing the ambiguities of justice from the Gov’t and the citizen are flawed and skewed IMHO:rolleyes:
I was rooting for Butler the whole movie, I was hoping he was gonna kill everyone including Jamie Foxx.
B the end I didn’t care about butler, but still wanted to see him get fox.

I felt the exact same way and was kinda pissed when butler died. Thought he shoulda killed everyone and lived.
Same here. For a minute there I thought I might be the only one. Ha.
Strange how we root for the good bad guy…kinda like rooting for Dexter haha
Ah, I live in Philadelphia and was rooting for Butler. The administration was too well portrayed in the movie. The city could never do its job as well as seen in the movie. +1 for the antagonist, as he really wasn’t a bad guy
