I have a Larue QD mount for an Aimpoint M4s. I like it just fine. I have no firsthand knowledge about ADM mounts, but it seems like their locking lever is a little more sophisticated.
I’m thinking about getting an Aimpoint Micro for another project and am looking for feedback from anyone who owns or has used both a Larue and an ADM mount for their Micro - which do you prefer and why? Does the ADM retain zero as well as the Larue? Does it come loose after a while? Any other thoughts on the good? bad? ugly?
I did run a search but didn’t come up with much.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, I have no experience with ADM, however I have a T-1 on a larue mount and love it, the locking lever works great and holds the mount solid on the rail.
The mount and the optic almost seem to be one piece. I have had it on and off my rifle several times with no issues.
I ran the set up through my department’s 32 hour rifle school and a rifle competition. It worked beautifully, it stayed tight the entire time.
the ADM is a very very solid piece of kit and will be going on all my future builds. the nice thing about it over the larue is if you change your mind and want to change from a lower 1/3 to a perfect cowitness or visa versa all you have to do is get the fairly cheap spacer. its a modular mount.
I really used to be a Larue fanboy, but lately, ADM has been put on most of my builds.
The Larue mechanism can really do a number on your upper, and it’s not ideal on slightly out of spec rails, in my experience.
The ADM clamp mechanism is very sturdy, and I would suspect provides much more ‘clamping force’ than a similar Larue. Also, no possible damage to your upper, and you can make adjustments without a tool.
Don’t get me wrong - Larue makes awesome stuff. However, given a choice between the two for a given application, I’d likely choose ADM. I have the Recon 30mm mount for my TR24G, and find it MUCH nicer than any of the Larue offerings.
I have a Larue T1 high mount and a ADM mount for my Eotech XPS. Both are great and I know they are different mounts, but I like prefer the ADM . Both are good quality and either way you’ll be happy.
For the tube body Aimpoints I like the LaRue mounts. But I def. prefer the ADM mounts for the M4/M4S and the Micro.
I’ll try the ADM. Thanks again.
I’ve actually got one of each! Both are good - the ADM works better on my painted upper, the LT is much better for my CMMG without paint.
The ADM is available in absolute cowitness - I’m probably going to give up the LT for another ADM, despite how great the LT is.
