I’ve more than once sat there and tried to put a scope in one of these damned things only to find the scope LOOSE after torqing all the fasteners.
Are you supposed to tighten the bottom screws first? Also… your throw levers look to be adjusted for a relatively low amount of effort to mount…
My buddy’s seem to be a lot stiffer… is our adjustment TOO much?
I’d never support that lunatic LaRue… but a lot of the guns I work with have that stuff on them… so I’d like to know the right way to deploy this stuff.
These questions are indeed covered by videos on LaRue’s website and by instructions.
You tighten the bottom bolts all the way first. You will still have enough play to align the scope’s crosshairs. Then you tighten the top bolts a little at a time until done. If this is not how you’ve been doing it, then you can’t blame the mount for the scope shooting loose because you did not allow the system to fully align and lock the rings to the base.
Also per the instructions, you only tighten the levers so that you first notice locking pressure when the levers are at 45 degrees. You do not need to tighten beyond that.
FWIW, I have yet to need to adjust a LaRue mount from its factory position for my Mega uppers. It is obvious they have some sort of system to set them up at the factory because the levers are all equally tensioned across the three different mounts I have (2x LT104 and 1x LT751).
Cool… I’m going to have to send my buddy to the site to watch some video. He’s just got so much gear, he can’t keep track of the ins and outs of it all.
Ha! Yeah, I thought I had the math OK… was more asking about the 1.2" if anyone can direct me. I find conflicting search results, or at least I’m interpreting them wrong.
ETA: I’ve found a couple unofficial sources that say 1.215" between rail and bore axis. I’m going with that unless anyone knows different.
