LaRue Tactical rifles

Please say so if I am out of line, but how can you offer buy advice on two things you have effectively never even seen … let alone used?

I own 2 with a 3rd on its way in a month

Debating the Mil-spec-ness of either upper receiver group in the category of the LaRue Stealth or a comparable Noveske is rather silly. Both have Stainless Steel barrels and the last bolt I received from Noveske had a blue extractor insert. I dont recall John Noveske ever claiming his uppers/complete rifles were “Mil-spec” either, because they are not. There is no TDP for a Stainless Steel precision AR platform upper that I know of. “Mil-spec” is irrelevant to this discussion. A LaRue Stealth (Stainless Steel barrel) and a Noveske N4 (Hammer forged/Chrome lined barrel) aren’t even in the same category in terms of their intended audience, so that is an “Apples to Oranges” comparison at best.

If we dont like someone, or dont like dealing with any particular manufacturer due to personal reasons, so be it. That is your business. But can we atleast be honest here when discussing the attributes of each different manufacturers products when someone is looking for advice?

The reality is that BOTH manufacturers, LaRue Tactical & Noveske Rifle Works, make fantastic, top tier weapons that are more accurate than pretty much any trigger puller that decides to get behind the trigger of either.

In all fairness Noveske doesn’t, either.

If someone wants a mil spec upper go get a Colt 6921 M4 upper.

Theres no mil spec for the vast majority of either company’s stuff. They are commercial guns. Then you can do what I did, and put a BCM BCG in there.

The N4 barrels are not mil spec. You can argue that they exceed mil spec but no they do not adhere to the mil spec for the M4/M16. Right off the bat they are a different contour, CHF, different chrome thickness, ect. Are the gas ports the same? Whats the mil spec for a barrel like this in a mid length? I do think they are awesome barrels, and Ive owned some Noveske stuff. Ive owned Noveske stuff for a while before they even stopped using LaRue rails. My 1st Noveske upper was an Afghan with a LaRue rail. But they are commercial guns not intended to follow the mil spec. Some areas they exceed it (like the lite barrels), and others they fall short. They are still using blue inserts in the bolts when I last purchased a Lite upper earlier this year.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed some helpful advice. But to the guys thats are just posting something to argue a fact or posting something that has no informational importance at all. Quit wasting my time and anyone elses time who may want this information and keep your comments to yourself.

Keep the good advice coming if ya got it.

That is completely correct, and thanks for assuming positive intent- the fact is that someone I know that I respect his opinion always mentions Noveske as a great option- but doesn’t own one and I don’t know anyone that does. But heck, that doesn’t mean much really b/c I don’t know a lot of people.
