LaRue mount screws stuck.

Purchased an M4s a while back on a LT659 mount off of a member of this board. M4s functioned perfectly out of the box and to this day I’ve had no issues. However, I never really did like the LaRue mount. Earlier today I finally received my Bobro mount and wanted to switch over.

I attempted to remove the two screws connecting the LaRue mount to the M4s but was unsuccessful. It of course resulted in one of the screws being stripped completely and the other I didn’t press too hard for fear I’d strip it as well.

Now I followed most of the steps I found here:

and had no luck. Went out and bought a new soldering iron tonight thinking mine was a bit too weak for the job and the new one still hasn’t gotten me any closer to my goal. I attempted to use one of my proGrabit bits and that had no effect either, most likely because I can’t even get the threads loosened up.

I’m not certain if I can contact LaRue and send it in since I’m not the original buyer of the product. I’m going to try calling them tomorrow to see what they say.

Does anybody else have any insight as to how I can get these two PITAs out?

Thank you.

I had the same problem removing my X300 from a larue mount. If the original owner used red loctite or over applied, the easiest way is to drill out the bolt head. You will need replacement bolts, if you plan to reuse or sell the mount.

Same situation with a Surefire scout, the allen head stripped, now I’m stuck with that light/mount.

I’ve had the same problem with one of my mounts, talked to LaRue guys, sent it over and got back in one week; I don’t know if they drilled it out or else.
