Larue lt104 or ADM recon? It’s gonna be for my PST 1-6.
Pro and cons. Price is not a factor cause I can pay an extra 20 bucks for a larue over an ADM if I need. Just wanna hear both sides.

I can only speak to the American Defense Recon. I really like it, it’s lightweight and it has returned to zero every time I have tested it.
Mine is FDE, 30mm and it is well machined and finished. It has never came loose.
I have had/have some Larue Tactical gear and have never found fault with it, so without first hand experience with the mount I can only go by that with Larue Tactical being good stuff, between the two, I would get what I thought was the best deal and what you like the looks of.
I believe that they are both quality mouths.

I didn’t even know people still bought Larue. Bobro and Geissele are the best I think, but I’m using an ADM until Scalarworks releases their model this winter.

I wanna say geissele is out of the picture. That things a brick lol

I mean by that is that it weighs as much as a brick
If I were going for a bench gun, I’d go for geissele due to how well it’s built

I have an LT 104 30mm. Never had an issue with return to zero and it is rock solid. Its also one of the lightest scope mounts out there.
Some of us Tejas residents still by LaRue ![]()

Return to zero isn’t much of a problem for me for I plan on leaving it on my rifle once mounted. Not sure why people make it out to be a big deal.
I’m in Cali lol…i wish I were in tejas. How’s the weather where you’re at? Stay safe

I’ve used the Larue mounts since they came out. I have one left for magnified scope mounting and that will be replaced soon. While I have Larue’s on the Micro’s, no true need to change them but I may one day. For precision, the ADM mounts are superior in my opinion. The dual cross lugs are precisely machined and are solid across, there is no movement with the mount and you don’t need a wrench in your kit if moving the optic. I prefer the Atlas as well with the ADM since it works overtime on many rifles, one day as well I will sell the Larue/Harris combo and buy another Atlas/ADM. Another benefit is you can simply change the ring clamps on the ADM and not buy another mount, but I haven’t checked the Larue to see if you can now or not.
Anyhow, my opinion.
I’m pretty sure it weighs less than ADM… but if you’re not concerned with RTZ, just get a vortex of aero mount or something.

I like the ADM more for the functionality, looks and value at it’s typical sales price point. The LaRue was $149 a couple months back which made it very competitive. Also, the LaRue leaves a bigger mark on the upper if you care about that.
LaRue mount is vastly superior. They have not changed in years because they got it right the first time. Every QD mount after is comparing themselves to “how much better they are to LaRue”. The LaRue mount is the gold standard that all of the others are compared. ADM is no where near as solid.
I have both the 104 and the Recon. They both do the same thing, hold the scope securely, QD, and return to zero. I like the design of the Recon better but both have stood the test of time. If buying anther I would go ADM.
My only 30MM mount experiences have been with LaRue and they do as expected every time. My experience with Geissele has been limited to the FCG’s.
I didn’t even know people in the islands were allowed guns & gun stuff :D.
I dont find the ADM design that much of an improvement over the Larue. I still have some of each for red dots and bipods but sold the magnified optic mounts to be replaced with Bobros- better lockup with more surface engagement.
I’ve owned both and give the edge to the LaRue. I like their latch much better.
I’ve seen way to many Larue mounts move back and forth to recommend them. Just the other week, buddy of mine was shooting and I walked over to his rifle and sure enough, I could hear it click back and fourth in the pic slot with slight hand pressure. Ive seen this just 3 times in the last 4 months shooting with folks with Larue mounts on different rifles and platforms. Becomes comical now. Never had an issue with ADM mounts. I do prefer Geissele, KAC, Spuhr, or just standard rings such as Seekins, NF, Badger for magnified optics. When choosing a QD mount, it’s ADM, GDI, or Bobro for me. For what it’s worth, I have only seen one Bobro personally fail on a scoped rifle. I believe WS6 or someone on here had an experience like that with a Bobro also. Not everything is perfect, but I have seen Larue issues more then all others combined.
I believe Grant plays a game when they train, and it’s something like “let’s see who’s Larue mount moves today” or something alike.
I don’t consider either one to be a poor choice. I’ve got a couple LT104s, and they work well. A cut down LaRue wrench lives on every AR. Your AR has on-board storage, right?
My only ADM mount is for a light, but it also seems to be of high quality. If the levers for the light mounts and optic mounts are the same, then I also prefer LaRue’s.
If a LaRue mount moves, then it wasn’t installed correctly.
That is very strange. I have been using LaRue mounts for almost 20 years not for real applications and have never seen that. Sounds like the mount was never properly installed. The vast majority of weapons related equipment failures I have seen can be chalked up to operate error.
But I do not want to start a stupid this mount is better than that mount. Might as well get the Aimpoint vs EOTECH crowd in here.
OP:
Most likely either mount that you get will accomplish what you want. Just get the one that you like best. The real difference will not be noticed in normal use.
There’s nothing wrong with LaRue mounts. Not the latest and greatest, sure, but they’re just fine. If you can find them for a good price, there’s no reason not to choose a LaRue.
I noticed Bobro is missing from this discussion. Another excellent mount.
I was going to pretty much say the same. If the mount is moving chances are it either isn’t installed right with Larue probably not tight enough, that QD really ain’t in my experience since it takes a good deal to get that lever to move when properly cranked down. Not saying I haven’t seen mounts fails, but I’ve seen most mounts fail at some point. Some more than others. I wouldn’t have issue using Larue mounts, not the newest, or greatest, but they do work. Have them on Acogs, and Aimpoints, and once mounted properly I haven’t had an issue. Neither have friends who have been running them for years. Would they perhaps be my very first choice? Maybe not, but I don’t have issues with them.
