LaRue ACOG T1 Mount

Has anyone else seen the LT-696 mount with an ACOG and the Aimpoint T1? I don’t know how to attach a link, but it looks pretty cool.

Just and FYI…

Got chin weld?

I love the idea.

Right now I have an ACOG with JPoint. I may replace the JPoint with a Dr Optic. I think the T1 would be even better because it seems more rugged and has a 5 year battery life.

Remember, the RDS over the ACOG is for CQB. The idea is to ‘get into the sight’ (as they say in the business) quickly. If you need a good sight picture then you use the ACOG.

LT makes my favorite mounts, but that’s one configuration i think i’ll steer clear of. yuck.

Rest your chin on the stock?

Why not put 1913 rails on the top and then at 45 to the left and right?

Looks like it bolts the T-1 on with the four screw on the bottom. Get’s it lower, but you’d have to remove the ACOg to get the T-1 off.

Knock the front sight off of the ACOG so that you can slide in in with a lower platform for the T-1, or make it so the top half of the bridge comes off, maybe even with spacers for different ACOG heghts. I would think that you could get it so that the T-1 glass is even with the ACOG top turret.

Interesting.

$717!!! It took me a second to realize that this is wiht the T-1 included.

Oh, so true!

A single base with an off set mount so the T-1 clears the ACOG and its center 2.6" off the bore axis; that fits the flat top upper and leaves room for a BUIS would be much preferred.

The idea behind this mount is so you don’t have to rotate the rifle 45 degrees. That technique might be the heat for competition but it is much harder to execute in actual combat shooting, in body armor, from less than ideal shooting positions.

Not really sure that would work for me.
But knowing how the larue guys T&E stuff it must be solid.

Yikes.

Imagine wearing a protective mask while using it.

Mounting an optic on top of an ACOG is a poor idea at best. If you want a 1X optic, use some kind of offset mount (like the one DD makes). That is a much better setup.

I am going to have to disagree.

For games the offset mounts might be the best. When wearing body armor and helmet, firing from cover or out of vehicle, at odd angles, the offset is often not practical. A cheek weld is often not possible nor necessary in such scenarios.

The last course I went to had a high wall, low wall, high window, low window, and a Hi-lux pick up truck. Taking cover in the prone (with full kit) behind the wheels of the Hi-lux was a real eye opener for a lot of people. Some people had a lot of trouble craning their neck to ‘get into’ their sights from this position.

Like everything else, this is just another tool in the tool box.

Among professionals, the RDS over the ACOG is still hotly debated. So heated was this debate, that Crane issued the 7MOA DrOptic WITH the SpecterDR - even though the Elcan was suppose to make an additional RDS unnecessary.

At TNVC, we designed our solution to this problem around the theory of “offset.” Our MURLM (Multi-Use Rail & Light Mount) features a Mini Red Dot mount that requires only 5 degrees of cant to the weapon. This is the least amount of cant, possible, to pick up a red dot. The cant is so minimal that the majority of shooters do not even notice it. In fact, a lot of times, canting is not even required to pick up the dot- just shift your eye slightly and what you see is what you get. Regardless, the shooter maintains his/her cheek weld.
