I wanted to just take a minute and share a story that we all are very familiar with. Larry Platt, the contestant that sang "Pants on the ground,...Pants on the ground" has became an over night sensation. By all means I found this audition extremely funny on American Idol when I saw it. Even at work, fellow co-workers would be humming the tune as the shift would go by.
Last week, my wife came home deeply disturbed. In her profession, she had it brought to her attention that during Larry Platt's audition he was wearing two buttons. These buttons represent a story of an officer killed in the line of duty. The buttons that Larry Platt was wearing was in support of a man named Troy Davis. Troy was convicted of killing off-duty Savannah Police Officer Marc Macphail. This LEO shooting has sent shockwaves thru the Savannah community as several activist's have gotten involved. It was brought up by another member on this forum and I felt it was time to explain this story. Most were unaware of Larry Platt's support for a convicted cop killer. If you youtube the video and watch it closely you can see the buttons. My wife along with me and my LEO family were is disbelief that the NBC network doesn't research or even google some of the statements that contestants attempt to advertise and wear on their persons when they audition.
