Lancer Systems CF tube

Ok I am wanting to further lighten my LW build. As it sits now I have a middy BCM LW upper and moe hand guard. After looking around at many different FF hand guards, I decided on the Lancer Systems because I have not found one any lighter (can anyone name any lighter?). I am thinking of two different options and wanted to know peoples opinions and what kind of weight savings I may see with each option.

  1. Keep the pinned FSB and install a mid length hand guard. I understand there are some logistical problems with installing a FF hand guard with a FSB. What installation steps do you need to take with the LS tube? I like this option, probably the best, because I like pinned FSBs, but from my understanding they are probably the heaviest option. How much weight savings would I see over my current set-up?

  2. Shave down the FSB and install a a rifle length hand guard with a new flip up front sight. I could get a new screw on gas block, but this is one area I do not see myself compromising on. What weight saving would I see with this option?

Any input is appreciated.

Wow that lancer CF tube looks HOT! Like one of the older JP/VTAC forends but in CF. That would be nice on a light weight build.

That looks awesome! Too bad there wasn’t a “drop in” version of it, because I would use it on my BCM middy build. I really like the fixed front sight post, though, and since my FH is pinned also, I don’t want to mess with any of that.:frowning:

I have one. They are very light. Most of the weight is in the barrel nut.

The only thing I’d suggest is that on models with the integrated top rail they “bridge the gap” between the upper receiver and top rail.
