Very thoughtful blog from Kyle…
I like what he has to say.
But here’s the problem. Too many lawmakers and do-gooders want to blame an inanimate object and solve the problem by simply passing a new law and removing the guns from whence they are convinced all of society’s problems arise. It’s a quick, feel-good solution which allows everyone to give themselves a self-rightous pat on the back and quickly move on.
Mr. Defoor’s solution requires an actual investment of time, energy, and personal commitment to effect the desired change. And, as his blog remarks allude to, our instant gratification culture is going to be less than enthralled with a plan to address these problems which will require years to yield results, perhaps a generation.
If the choice is between “let’s just ban guns” or “let’s roll up our sleeves, commit the resources, and get involved with our schools and communities,” which do you think our congressmen and the talking heads are going to opt for?
That was excellent.
Indeed, very well said.
I am emailing that link around. He smashed it.
Link sent. Excellent comment from Mr. Defoor.
