Kydex NEck sheaths

Just thought I’d post a teaser for a certain member  AND ask for feedback in the same thread.

Who uses such sheaths for any concealed type carry of small and light edged tools? If so what neck laynard do you prefer?

in the woods I like parachord but seems these ball chains make for easy, stay clean low profile use.

We WILL soon!!

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, stunning work! You must show the blades on a few at least!!

Vic

I carry a Dozier New Yorker in a neck sheath.

While I love the durability, strength and feel of paracord, it’s probably not the best choice of material to be worn around one’s neck in a hands-on fight scenario. Seems to be a choke-out hazard waiting to happen if your opponent has the skills to get to it.

Beautiful knives and sheaths, Mr. Goode!!! Very well done.

+1000 on a break-free chain philosophy!

Aight Vic

I am excited about these sheaths that I forgot someone may want to see the knives lol! There D2 steel “purty” work knives

i’m loving this. could you pm me some details (dims, price, etc)? i think that would be perfect in a leather front pocket sheath

you can cover the ball chain with para-cord.

Back i the day I used to wear my dog tag chain run through a piece of gutted para cord.

Works great.

Nice work!
I have been wearing my blackhawk crucible with the neck chain provided and although I like it for some instances, I am not fond of it all around.
Accessibility in some cases may be difficult but the major thing I found is that if you do any type of dynamic movement the knife can work itself free of the kydex and hit the deck or the person carrying it… a retention strap may be a good idea as an added precationary measure…

I like the ability to configure it a few ways for concealment and open carry… fortunately my blackhawk crucible came with an assortment of mounting options…

I WAS worried about this aspect, but I’ve been using the knife for 2 weeks now and so far everything is staying put. I’ve run on a treadmill and ran wind sprints, and with the design of this particular Kydex attach point, the knife is really solid even when it gets hot. The only reservation I would have with a strap safety would be to get the knife out in a hurry. I think it would take a lot of practice to manipulate getting the knife out with one hand quickly and cleanly. But, I am thinking a button strap of some sort where Velcro would make this an easier task. I used to wear a mini Tanto in my vest which had a Velcro strap that I got out quickly when needed. With this Kydex sheath, a sharp pull downward and the knife is out now. So far VERY quick to deploy and very secure. We’ll keep working with it.

Vic

Sounds like the kydex was shaped very well. I had the same experience with my Red Hill kydex sheath for my Interceptor E&E… Because they shaped it so well it could be mounted in any way conceivable without it dropping loose… there is no need for a retention strap… I actually had to sheath and unsheath over and over again for a “break in” process to get the kydex perfect so deployment didnt require a two hand tug…

I may just put the crucible sheath in the oven

I think a button snap retention strap is asking for trouble so like you said Vic I would opt for something quick like velcro…Its light and you can keept it out of the way if what you are doing doesnt require that extra retention level…

Regarding the OP
Once again… Fine work on these blades and I hope to see more variants in the future…

Thanks guys! I really like how the sheaths turned out. I dont have enough experience making kydex sheaths and I know David Brown has made TONS of sheaths and holsters and has a great reputation on another forum. WHen Vic approached me about the knives I knew I didnt have what it took to really give the package a great overall rating and had to put my trust in someone who makes kydex products as a main service. Sheathmaking is always secondary for knifemakers who make there own sheaths I think  Cool Part is Vic, teh the next batch I send David to make sheaths for he is getting his own B.Goode necker
Guess I made another fan and I a fan of his!!

Thanks for the kydex help Wookie!! After 3 weeks playing with kydex I have a dang nice tooking and great working neck sheath I made myself today. I just have it slipped in my pocket and its less bulky than a leather pocket sheath.
