Police in Carter County are investigating after a shooting Wednesday morning that left a man dead.
The shooting happened at about 6 a.m. at a home on Clark Hill Avenue in Olive Hill. Police say Boyd E. Littleton II, 45, was shot to death by homeowner Carl Bright when Littleton attempted to forcibly gain entry into Bright’s residence by kicking both rear and front doors of the house. Littleton was shot after he managed to kick in the front door.
There have been no charges filed against Bright by the Kentucky State Police at this time. The case will be investigated and presented to the Carter County Commonwealth Attorney’s office.
The Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) officer was summonsed to the scene in which a large amount of alcohol was confiscated from Bright’s residence. Bright was cited to court by ABC for the charges relating to the sale and possession of alcoholic beverages in a dry territory.

It’s possibly, but many others break-in just to steal money and other valuables just to sell and buy drugs. Hell, many dopers sell their cars for crack, and after the hit report it is stolen.
This was covered by the local news, and a neighbor posted on the news website that he knew both of them, and that the two men were actually friends. He also said that Bright was handicapped and would have to shoot to defend himself.
It works out for me that Carter County is dry, because they’ve turned making shine into an art form. Damn good stuff comes out of there.
