Kuhl pants

I’m interested in some opinions on Kuhl pants. They look pretty cool, I’ve read good reviews, and appear to have a significant amount of pockets without looking tacti-cool.

The only place I know within driving distance that has a few pairs of Kuhl pants is Kittery Trading Post in Maine. I browsed online to find over 20 different models of pants… Holy cow.

Are the various models significantly different? Should I be OK trying on one model at the store and ordering the same size.

I’m interested in any and all experience with these pants and particularly individual models.

Thanks

Derek

I have 3 pair, light, medium and heavyweight. The heavyweight are the only pair worth having in my opinion. I can give you actual models later when I’m home. The light tore quicky, riding atvs in woods, medium weight tore at knees at CMD class doing ground work. Heavyweight I like and has held up well, just looks wrinkled all the time.

I have a set of “The Law” pants, which are the heaviest weight fabric and, are double layer on the front and backside. Very comfortable and somewhat loose fitting around the legs. Fit is accurate and so far, no shrinkage… So order with confidence. Just make sure of your inseam, as most vendors don’t carry inseams longer than 32".

I have one pair of the light weight ones. Im not very impressed but thank god i picked them up on sale and not full price. Pros: not as tactical looking Cons: pricy, very small front pockets for your stuff.

I have 4 pair, got them from EMS eastern mountain sports in concord, I have 2 light weight and 1 med 1 heavy. from all 4 the sizing runs the same for me.

I have the Ryder pant. Comfortable and plenty of rooms in the thigh without being baggy. Heavy is the way to go

I recently picked up a couple pairs of rydr pants.

After washing them I noticed they were covered in wrinkles and creases. Pretty thick ones that don’t iron out.

I followed the washing directions.

Any advice?

Also from just one wash I got white blemishes in the dark khaki pair.

did you wash them inside out?

Inside out and on cold/low just like the tag mentioned

Long time lurker, first time poster here

I bought a set awhile back and love them. I’m in the midwest so we have scheels and gander mt that carry them, but the selection is limited. Amazon is your best bet for anything other than the common models. I have a pair of the “Riot” pants which are their denim variant. So far I really like them. I’ve washed them several times the same as I wash all of my clothes and they are fine. The gusseted crotch is so comfy, I can crouch without the crotch hindering me (tore out my last pair of jeans 2nd day I had them). I’m planning on getting a pair of “the law” for LEO/range use soon. Just wish they had a pair with cargo pockets.

Front pockets are small, if you pocket carry, be warned now. Otherwise they fit well. I have the light weight.

I signed up for emails from EMS, they send discounts and coupons every week it seems. I have 4 pair of Kuhls and got the all on sale through EMS. I actually like the lightweight (Revolrs and Slackers)ones more than the Ryders.

I have 2 pairs or Revolvrs. I completely agree that the front pockets are small, but my main complaint is that they don’t have enough belt loops to satisfy me. This may be a symptom of my expanding waist line, but with only 5 belt loops my belt to ride over the top of the pants.

I would like to try the heavier material, but every time I look at them in the store all that I see have 5 belt loops. Does anyone have a pair of Kuhls with more than 5 belt loops? If so, what model are they?

I have a pair of “revolvr” pants and they seemed a little weird, like your pictures, having spots and lines that are off color. I did a little searching/googling and apparently that is perfectly normal. It is also perfectly normal for them to change color (not extremely, but slightly off a shade than it was when you purchased them).

That’s normal, for Rydrs. They’re…what?..pigment-dyed, I think it’s called? Mine did the same thing, and so has anything I’ve ever bought that was dyed using that method. The things get “distressed,” in terms of color, at a rapid rate. I didn’t get them to wear for work, so I don’t care (nor about the wrinkles, also completely normal for these), but get how that could be a pisser.

Watch out for the riveted parts. They do a crap job of that, in such a way as to essentially create a wear area, instead of reinforcing an area so that it wears less quickly; moreso if you’re shoving clipped items like a flashlight or a knife into them all the time. If you end up keeping them, save yourself some time and get a tailor to stitch-reinforce them now, 'cuz you’re gonna need to do it, anyway.

I can’t %$&ing stand denim, so those’re what I wear instead of jeans; that thigh pocket is a perfect phone-size. The zipper is SHORT, even for a relatively lo-rise pant; PITA when having to take a whiz. Add an AIWB holster…things get weird, just not weird enough to make me want to toss the pants out.

I have two pair of Krags that stayed the color in which they were bought. Those are the ones to buy if one has REALLY big thighs; vary generous cut to the legs without the cloth flopping around like Hammer-pants or Buttafucos. These also have rivet reinforcements, but done right; they actually reinforce corners instead of creating stress points. I’d buy more of those in a heartbeat…they just have to wear out, first.

The faded areas aren’t a huge concern of mine. I imagine more will occur until it looks natural. Unfortunately those creases cause the pant to be very ugly when worn. These were to be an everyday pant to wear out. Not just work. The creases make them look very sloppy and unkempt.

What other models are identical to rydr 's yet maybe have a different fabric that’s more user friendly.?

If you’re open to denim, check out the Riots. Have yet to see a wrinkle in mine. They are pretty light for denim IMO.

I use my Rydr’s for dress pants; not enough pockets for me for everyday wear. I get lonely without a lot of pockets.

I have two pairs of shorts (Revolvr and Renegade) and one pair of Revolvr pants. I wore the Renegade shorts during the BJJ portion of Cecil Burch’s class, as they have a lot of stretch to them and they worked out well. I do not consider them to be “hard use” shorts though, as the fabric “seems” to not be too durable. They are nice in the TX heat though. The Revolvrs are a nice mid-weight pant and have worked out well. They do show some distress lines like the above-mentioned pants. I love having the 3-D (whatever you call it) pocket available to move my phone out of my main front pockets. I consider these to be replacements for jeans. I haven’t really considered the heavy weight models. I wish Kuhl would improve their website to allow me to compare the various pant models by fabric weight, pockets, etc. I will probably be ordering another pair of Kuhl pants off their website as I really need a 33 waist and they don’t sell that size in stores (e.g., REI, etc).
