I bought my X200A quite a few years ago. I wanted to use it on my off-duty carry handgun (Glock 23). Unfortunately, after just a few hundred rounds the light would not turn on unless I opened it up and pried the battery contacts (on the switch housing) out. Even then it would only last a few rounds. It seems that the contact was getting battered out of shape enough that there would not be any constant contact against the batteries.
So yesterday, I approached the Surefire Representative who were at the TREXPO East in Chantilly, VA. I asked them what I should do to get the issue resolved (NOTE: I never got around to calling Surefire about this). After listening to what I was saying the guy started rummaging through one of his bags. At this point a second gentleman walked up and the first Rep asked him if the X200A had the same switch plate as the X300.
The second one said “yes, it should be” at which point the first Rep handed me a new plate switch. I noticed that the battery contact on this one was made up of a spring. I asked them how much I owed them and they said nothing. I then asked them if they wanted me to mail in the old plate and they told me not to worry about it.
So now I am able to use my X200A again and I remembered why I have quite a few Surefire products. Kudos to them!!
Thats great to hear. Once again, the old saying “You get what you pay for” comes around to pay for itself. I too am a SF nut and have just ordered the X300 and the Viking Tactics L4 (my 2nd) from a great dealer I deal with. I LOVE SUREFIRE and will always buy their stuff as I have had to use their customer service 1 time and had the same experience. Glad you got your gear working now…
Love my Surefire lights and trust them. I currently have the X300 on my G23, the M600C on my LMT rifle and an E1B that is my EDC light. I’m looking at getting an LX2 soon. When I spoke to them at the '07 Shot Show, they were very friendly. They let me play with the X400 and gave me a few earplugs. Can’t wait to visit their booth at the 2010 Shot Show.
