I currently have a Surefire M910 with the standard head and MN-11 lamp. I’ve never used the Turbohead KT4-HA and was seeking pros and cons on weather or not to get one. I mainly use my light outdoors, is the increase in distance and power that much greater than the standard head to justify the extra cost?
Unless you find one for super cheap I would recommend waiting for the new upgraded LED conversions that SF is promising to show up sooner or later.
The turbohead just has a bigger reflector to collect and throw more light forward, it generates a pretty impressive spot, but with a loss of spill as well. If your current standard head doesn’t give you enough reach then it might be of use to you.
Another, cheaper option to try first is an upgraded bulb assembly from Lumens Factory. They give you more power and/or increased runtime as well as the option of using rechargeable batteries. I have used a couple for years with no issues.
I ran a KT4 on my M962 on duty for a while. I really love the extra reach I get from the KT4. It’s just so dang bulky. I went back to the Z46/M3 bezel recently. I go through phases and switch the bezel often, depending on my mood that day!
