Kruger Optical - 1-8x Any experience

I first did a search but did not find any discussion here except a small post from the Shot Show discussion.

These seem to be an interesting concept but just can’t help thinking this is the newest fad/marketing scheme.

I have been putting off buying a magnified optic such as the Trijicon since I don’t think I need one but eventually would like to get one as my eyes age. Currently use aimpoints. I want to buy once, but keep waiting since the 1x concept seems to just keep getting better. My use is only range and carbine class.

Does anyone have any experience or news about these?

I have been holding out for a reticle change in the Trijicon or a quality 1-8x for around $1,500.

Thank you for your time.

Have you seen pictures of it mounted? I cant find them now but it is comical/borderline ridiculous how large the thing is.

The last I heard they were attempting to move forward with producing it in a smaller package.

It’s always too good to be true. They don’t give a weight on their website either that I saw.

Just searched again. Found it weighs 30 ounces. Yikes. Not for me.

I would look for a use Short-Dot or Swaro Z6i with the BRT reticle.

Best glass, best day time illumination, ect.

I sold by first gen Short-Dot on here for about $1400. It would be superior to anything new in the $1500 range. Not the magnification range you are looking at but 4X is good for anything but a long range precision rifle. The Swaro Z6i goes up to 6X.

Thanks. I will look into.

I’ve seen and handled one of the prototypes of this sight. I was less than impressed…

interesting scope, looks like a train. Here’s a video I found

I was trying to determine if there was some type of BDC either in the reticle or elevation knobs.

Sounds like a nice concept, not sure it’s ready for prime time.

OK, now I’m giving this some more thought.

A LaRue mount is about 7 oz, the S&B 1-8X and Leupold Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS are about 23 oz, that’s a total of 30 oz just like this unit. The length on the Mark 8 is 11.75" as well.

I’ve dropped them an email questioning warranty, BDC etc.

A 1-8X would go nicely with my Noveske SS upper.
