looking for more info on the new knights keymod scout mount. specifically pics of how close it puts the light to the rail. i see they"ve put it on there sight but with no real detailed pics/info. thanks in advance
It’s not out yet. Maybe Kevin or Jack can weigh in but I have a scout mounted on a URX 4 using a gear sector mount attached to a keymod 5 rail section. Fits very well and I’m sure the keymod mount will be that much better.
Some of SMG Lees photos from KAC booth at shot show the mount with a scout attached but not mounted to rifle.
I played with one at SHOT. It brings the light in very tight, similar to the centurion CMR with the centurion scout mount.
Is there a community college class that sorts out all of these systems? 
Well I’m excited about it for sure. It appears to be the first key mod scout mount to fit what I’ve been wanting. Really interested in seeing how it will work out with front sights and others manufactures key mod handgaurds. I currently have a scout mini and troy folding sights. In the past I’ve just ran it off the gear sector scout mount on the 12 o’clock rail. I haven’t made the move to a keymod handgaurd yet and I’ve been waiting until after shot just to see what all came out. I have my eye on the geissele mk5. Geuss I’ll just have to wait and see how it works out.
I want to see one of these KAC mounts in person, or failing that, some decent photos of it on the URX 4 or KMR.
The Scout lights I’ve owned before have always seemed to sit about an inch too far off the center of the handguard, due the combined width of Scout light mount and Piccatinny rail. This has sent me back to X300 lights at 12 o’clock. Using the low profile of Keymod handguards to snug the Scout light in close to the center, makes a lot of sense. I don’t want the light hanging off, out to the side of the handguard, I want it tucked into the rail at 10:30.
my thoughts exactly , ive looked at the noveske keymod mount but once again looks like it puts the light a little to far from the handguard. other than the noveske i really havent seen any that look like what im wanting. the hsp/iwc mount is another example, plus it looks a little weak to me. im thinking that the main reason for most mounts not being closer to the rail is to make them more universal with sights and such
The Noveske Scout mount is very close to the handguard. It is on my NSR at least. My only complaint is that is sits the light too low. The top of the light is even with the top of the handguard. Some may like this but I prefer one mounted slightly higher as it is easier for my thumb to activate the tail cap.

Weak is not a word I would use to describe the IWC mount. Very sturdy and 1 piece instead of 2 like the Noveske mount. Both put the light in nearly the same position, in relation to the 12 o’clock rail.
Meh, it’s frustrating when looking for something you need but don’t know what’s available, but it’s all manageable. I try to find what works and is the most robust then try not to think about kit behind that.
But, I’ve got a work rifle sitting there with a compromise setup due to length and useless permanent short rail sections up front and I need to see what my options are.
While I didn’t care for the keynod at first, I’m seeing the utility in it and its light weight. It would allow me to tuck the light in much closer to the rail and would be a stronger setup.
Handling the scout setup at the kac booth, it was very tight to the rail. If it was any closer, it would probably prevent the use of a front BUIS. It might actually be close to not allowing some of them now like how the Centurion prevents mounting certain front sights.
I’m not sure how it works with a DBAL or PEQ, and that will be partially dependent on the hand guard size itself, but it appears that it will keep everything a nice, low profile set up.
good to know, i really like iwc products. Can’t wait to see what else they come out with for the keymod platform
id just like to see a pic from the muzzle. i tried to do screen captures on my phone while watching the videos from shot, no dice there either.

I’ll also forgo the asking of what gun it is and move straight to “When is it available?”
I’m wondering if the Scout mount will work with the BCM KMR? Depends on how tight it sits to the top rail, I suppose.
I think you right it all depends on the angle of the mount. Im leaning towards the nsr so I hope it fits that
