Knight’s Armament Micro-Aimpoint Mount

ARMS, GG&G and LaRue mounts for comparison.

Molon,
Does KAC mount have a capability of changing between 1/2 and 1/3 co-witness? I’ve read something to that effect, but I am not certain and I can’t figure this out by looking at the pic. Also, have they been released for purchase?
If you look closely at the second and third pics above, you should be able to see the “spacer” between the top and bottom portions of the mount. The mount can be used without any spacer, with one spacer or with two spacers. I have mine set up with one spacer, which by my measurements gives a nearly perfect 2.6" absolute co-witness. I purchased mine directly from KAC.
To me this makes it the most versatile mount for Micro and I am glad I have waited. I’ve just ordered mine. Thank you for information.
great idea with the spacers. but the ggg has lens caps. u cant have it all.
I hear ggg weighs almost twice the weight of T-1. Yep, you can’t have it all.
That looks really sweet. I hope Knights has some new items for us.
A T1 in the GG&G mount without the lens caps only weighs 2 ounces more than a T1 in the LaRue mount.
Yep. The gent was referring to mount with caps…stolen from AR15.com:

so more weight and have caps, or less weight and height adjustablilty. they are both quality mounts with great features. but i am strong and i like 1/2 co-witness so i would take the ggg because of the caps. but i could see how others would prefer the knights. anyway, i say the more options the better. cheers to knights armament. ![]()
While the GG&G mount does sit lower than the regular LaRue mount, it does not give an absolute co-witness like the KAC mount.

Im still looking for reasons for people prefering an absolute co-witness. Care to offer any?
So far Ive had a single one that holds some water. Why obstruct your field of view with the iron sights?
Thanks, Rick
with a RDS you shouldnt see the front sight with the rear flipped down. you should only see the target. so the sights dont really get in the way at 1/2 or 1/3 witness. the advantage for 1/2 would be a lower cheek weld, and also most 3x magnifier mounts line up better with the height of the 1/2 witness sights. hope this helps.
Thank you, but if you are using an absolute co-witness (1/2) the front site does obscure the target. Espcially if you are holding over at longer ranges. I have an EOtech magnifier that ive used w/ my T1 and EOtech model whatever (the new taller ones) and it seems to work just fine.
Rick
ya i guess with an eotech its different, but i mounted the new eotech magnifier to a t1 on a ggg 1/2 mount and it sat a little to low. i could see a dark half ring on the top of the sight picture because it sits to low.
I was all set to order one of these until I saw the price tag. It’s almost double the cost of the Larue mount…Granted I like the multiple platform heights, but that’s a hard pill to swallow right there…
How is the “quick detach” feature. Comparable to the Larue?
j
Was not aware of that. Good to know.
It’s a solid mount and worth the price.
The “quick detach” feature is a bit different than Larue’s. The LT mount lever and cam are one piece which rotates under the rail, whereas the KAC lever is a seperate piece that pushes a plate (or whatever that piece is called) against the rail.
Obvoiusly, the locking features are different as well.
I’ve received mine. I am not quite sure why the lever needs to be so long; I can see potential of snagging gear etc. Subjectively, LaRue and ADM locks feel a bit more rugged to me. I am hoping that we’ll see some objective reports in near future. I’ll be sure to take it to my next class, but I don’t plan any for next 6-8 months.
that’s a nice mount.
